Calling all neoconservatives and those who have general animus toward Russia
My Fetid Mind | July 16th, 2018 | Mariner

Posted on 07/16/2018 7:30:08 PM PDT by Mariner

I am a member of the New/Paleo Right, as are many here on Free Republic.

And I know many of us wonder: Where are the neocons?

Where are those who will force us to engage logically as we, jointly, refine our perspectives of the day?

What is YOUR opinion of the events of the last week and what do you think the rest of us are missing?

With all sincerity, Mariner

Their secrets are deeper and dirtier than anyone ever thought, and they will soon become known.

If they even ATTEMPT to remove him from office, it’s on like donkey kong.

That’s my President.

They want to start a civil war ? Because that’s how you start civil wars.

Neo Paleo right? Neocons?

Animus towards Russia?

Is this the preferred title of pro dopers here at Free Republic? I certainly don’t feel any animus towards Russia or Putin. Certainly not like I feel for the domestic enemies here in the USA. But then I’m not on dope.

Most of the Bush League Republicans aren’t here anymore.
There are a few that mostly stay quiet these days.

It has been long understood that there are no permanent enemies or permanent friends in international affairs.

Putin (and apparently Trump) are believers in old-fashionable conflict which is resolved by concentrating on what is or is not in their national interests rather than an ideological dispute with huge citizen armies.

We have more in common than antagonisms. Russia is surrounded by actual and potential enemies as well as its indigenous Islamic terrorists. That is where we have an important common interest. One would think Russia would be concerned about China as well.

It must be accepted as fact that the Ukraine is within Russia’s Sphere of Influence. As Venezuela is clearly within ours.

Russian actions wrt the past election are clearly within the context of global maneuvering.

We are right in the midst of history in the making which will produce unfathomable events. This is deep state/shit.

How can I possibly feel any animus toward a culture that gave us Tchaikovsky and Tolstoy, Solzhenitsyn and Shostakovich?

I want to see us bury the hatchet with Moscow for good.

Muslims, on the other hand, pick fights with anyone who is not a Muslim. They are they worst people in the world and they deserve extermination.

Try not to let the deep fascists influence your emotions too much over Russia.

You know, when Russia/Putin “annexed” the Crimea, I understood why. For at least a century and a half it was Russia's warm water port. It has always been considered “Russian;” despite the fact that recently it was under Ukrainian control.

As for Syria. IIRC, back in the 60s, Syria was considered a Russian “puppet” after the French left. Egypt too during Nassar.

America is trying to play the Great Game that the British and French played with the Russians back in the 19th century. There is no reason we should play. We should support Israel as we have done since 1948 as well as though countries that are at peace with Israel such as Jordan and now Egypt and even Saudi Arabia it seems.

As for Iran...A secular republic friendly to Russia would not frighten me at night. We screwed it up by installing the Shah that later decided to go medieval on his people. I remember student friends here in the 70s fearful of the Savak even in the United States. I would prefer Iran friendly to both the US as well as Russia, but I understand Russia's concern as it is on its southern border. This is the reality, the realpolitik as Henry Kissinger might say.

Russia is not our friend, but they do not have to be our enemy either.

I think trump has brilliantly cornered the alinskyites of the intelligence community.

The deep state still has their coup attempt in progress. Being the first US prez ever to excoriate a world leader in a post summit conference wouldn’t have changed that, and wouldn’t help us to engage on other issues.

Today’s Russia is not the same as the old Soviet Union.

Putin wants to work together to defeat Muslim terrorism.

Did you not read lord McCain, wimpy Romney and lying Ryan's statements today? These political whores are the face of the neocons that never hear about war and destruction they did not stamp, endorse and send Americans to die. Follow the money...

Putin, leader of the ‘bear’ nation is what he is... However, he has never taken an oath of office to defend and protect our Constitution. Pappy Bush's thousand points of lights, batteries have died.

There nothing in your post with which I would disagree.

Wrt the Crimea, the Russians fought a war over it against the British, the French and the Ottoman’s justifying their involvement as protectors of Christianity. But you probably know all that.

The Soviets created the Ukrainian state.
