Where is the states' right to choose on abortion?
EEE | 01 JULY 2018 | EEE

We hear so much about a woman's "right to choose" and how Roe vs Wade is somehow magically settled law and untouchable. We don't want women having back-alley abortions, right?

Did you know that prior to 1973, states had their own abortion laws?

States like NY and WA, of course, had no restrictions on abortion (Yellow).

States in the South and surprisingly CA allowed abortions only in the cases of rape, incest, or when the Mother's life was in danger (Green).

Most of the Upper Midwest, the Northeast, and TX BANNED abortion (Red)

So what would happen if Roe vs Wade were overturned? Would women's so-called "reproductive rights" be harmed by the evil Trump administration?

Of course not.

Want an abortion? Contact your state legislator or state Senator then and have them change the laws in your state. Or travel to a state that has it legalized.

Why is this so hard for people to understand? What works in NY doesn't work in TX. Why can't progressives just live and let live with the wonders of Federalism?

Republican and Trump administration lurkers: Start making the case for Federalism for abortion. Push back on the "Right to choose" narrative by pointing out that states have no say in passing abortion restrictions for their state. Just the other day, IA's abortion laws were knocked down by yet another progressive activist black robed tyrant. It's OK to pass anti-2nd Amendment laws, but not laws against abortion. This is flat-out wrong and reeks of hypocrisy.

All of the venomous political discourse and division, and the Red vs Blue state construct we are having today can be traced back to Roe vs Wade. All of the hyper-partisanship in Congress whenever there's a SCOTUS vacancy has to do with Roe vs Wade, and to a lesser extent, the Borking of Judge Bork.

OVERTURN ROE VS WADE. STRIP ANY WAYWARD REPUBLICANS OF THEIR COMMITTEE CHAIRS OR LEADERSHIP IF THEY START CAVING TO THE LEFTIST MOB. RETURN OUR GOVERNMENT BACK TO ITS CONSTITUTIONAL FOUNDATIONS AND RETURN POWER TO THE STATES.

Where is the states' right to choose AGAINST abortion?

A pre-existing right the feds have unconstitutionally trampled on. Time to reinstate the Constitution AS WRITTEN AND ORIGINALLY UNDERSTOOD AND INTENDED as the Supreme Law of the Land over the feds and use it to slap the feds down!!!

States imposing abortion at the state level violates the First Amendment just as much as Roe v. Wade does.

Never mind the Guarantee Clause that was supposed to prevent the states from implementing socialist rather than republican forms of government.

Where is the “states right to chose abortion”?

It is in the same place as states rights to ban abortion - among those rights NOT named and enumerated in the Constitution as belonging to the federal government, amd because of that are instead reserved to the states and the people.

What are the blue and purple? Kind of a mixed bag—MA and Alabama.

Why can't progressives just live and let live with the wonders of Federalism?

They're too busy trying to do that with the "sanctuary states" issue.

As a prolife leader in my community, I had long rejected the notion of states rights for abortion. Murder could never be legalized anywhere in our nation.

But now I see that the Constitution was the wrong road in 1789, and that we should never have allowed James Madison to lead us to a central federal government.

And so, I now think states rights wherever possible are the only possible freedom we can have, including for abortion.

States rights allows us choice of address.

The way I see it is, there are already laws against murder. People should not be able to murder their babies. Sad state of things.

Constitution, 10th Amendment:
“The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.”

Congress creates and funds the lower courts. All Congress needs to do is order them not to hear state challenges to Roe v Wade. Done.

I seem to remember that there was a great amount of discussion in the last two election cycles about who is or isn't a U. S. Citizen. At no time did anyone suggest that this state or that state could decide on its own who they would consider to be a U. S. Citizen.

Why would it make any sense to allow this state or that state to decide who is a human being worthy of protection from murder?

As soon as the Supreme Court Justices can show us where in the Constitution the killing of unborn children is specified as a right, we will talk about it.

No doubt the Founders would be horrified to know that Justice Kennedy is being honored in spite of making up this “right” that has led to the death of nearly 60 million American children.

Correct. They are the most innocent among us. Absolutely no "right" in any sense or for any reason.

A very Liberal friend of mine did not get the sarcistic nature of a FB post I made.

My FB post was news article about a woman and her husband/boyfriend (I don’t remember which) and their desire to abort their child ev en though the woman was 30 weeks pregnant. To solve theur ptoblem the woman agreed to have her mate brutally punch her in the abdoman until she could no longer feel the baby move. The baby was delivered in the hospital will imuries so sever it died quickly after delivery.

My comment asked if the incident is raally muuder cause wasn’t it just a worhless bunch of tissue?

My Liberal friend did not get the sarcasm. She asked: I guess you really don’t know fetal development do you. Imagine her, with her rabid pro-choice stance, asking me that question when she knows I am pro-life and have posted many FB posts supporting that position.
