Waste Management, fined by the City of Omaha earlier this month for falling behind on trash collection, is offering a bonus of up to $6,500 for people hired to be drivers.
The company will conduct a two-day job fair at in an effort to full positions.
Friday, June 29th:
8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturday, June 30th:
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Both sessions will take place at the Waste Management offices at 5902 N. 16th Street.
The company says managers will be on-site to conduct interviews. If you're interested, you may pre-apply here.
Waste Management says qualified individuals may earn a $4,500 sign-on bonus, and a $2,000 one-time special bonus.
Earlier in June, Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert fined Waste Management $27,634 for complaints and missed pickups. The company says it has struggled to find enough certified drivers to service all routes.
Al Bundy always aspired to be a garbageman.
It might be worth asking if they ‘drug-test’, and that might explain why they have problems getting employees.
The plus-up here is that it’s a job where you just need a license and the willing effort to show up each day.
Spook the illegals....more jobs for the locals
Seriously, I've known some.
A “G” man?
Wow! This is what winning looks like. I had forgotten.
Your snob comment make me think this we DU for a second.
What snob comment?
Agree.

Have you tried to hire anyone with any mechanical skills lately?
As a trucker part of me would like to see every CDL holder stay home for a month. Fancy boys like many here would be bashing each other in the head for the last can of cream corn. People look down on garbage men but they would change their tunes real quick if the garbage men decided to strike.
A month? If every CDL - Class A driver stayed home for just one day our food supply system would collapse! We would lose millions of pounds of frozen and temp controlled food. One day off the road would be a disaster!

I hear that. Even though I owned my own business for nearly 40 years I was always out in field with the rest of the crew. Just as muddy as anyone. Blue collar as it gets.
Or as the FBI calls me..a white, uneducated, lazy POS retard.
All these people who look down on a “garbageman” as some brain dead flunkie should hop in one of the trucks, run all the controls, dodge all the retards who can’t drive, deal with the regulations and then get the route down on time regardless of the weather. Good luck with that.
Like you say. Stay home for awhile and the world would stop.
Sounds like a good honest living to me!
Yes, they do a drug test. A CDL is required.
The refer guys would do the quickest damage. Then the gas stations would run dry in 3 to 7 days along groceries store shelves clearing out. Throw in the Claas B drivers and Amazon shuts down that day. That would hurt the most sarc/
