Our society are full of conceal-carry options.
Right now is probably considered the golden age of personal defense handguns galore for the consumer.
You can get just about any size and caliber all design to go with you anywhere.
Memory Lane
In the 80s, the Walther PPK ruled the roost, unless you were into revolvers.
The early 90s saw the introduction of the compact Glock, and just a few years later the gun industry was flooded with .380s designed for pocket carry.
Now, polymer-framed, striker-fired compacts are a popular choice, along with compact 1911s and snub-nosed revolvers.
Here are some reasons that Springfield may just have produced a winner.
-The Springfield Armory XD-S is a compact, polymer-framed, striker-fired single stack pistol.
-Physically, the XD-S sits right in between traditional compact pistols (like a Glock 30) and true subcompacts like the Smith & Wesson Bodyguard or Ruger LCP.
-Single stack design, the XD-S has a frame thats less than one inch wide (0.95 inches, to be exact). Read the rest of the Springfield XD-S pistol review here.
But does it have a “Grip Zone”?
I prefer a revolver for anyone who does NOT shoot frequently.
I was in the military police in the Air Force AND shoot locally and I would still not carry a semi-auto on me for concealed carry.
As goofy as that labeling is, I’ve read pretty good things about the new design. (Except for the stupid label.) I love my XDM. While I do carry it everywhere, something smaller would be better in many instances.
Right now, mine is the SCCY 2.
Eleven quick 9mm rounds and then another 10. That should do the job.
Keltec PF9 for me. It may not be the best quality gun, but it’s not bad either. It sure did the job for Zimmerman.
If you carry your gun regardless, it’s always better to have the best gun you can comfortably carry. For me, I wanted the lightest gun possible in 9mm since carrying is often a game-time decision based on whether I feel like lugging it around to where I’m going.
The best gun is always the one you have on you when you need it, and I’m pretty sure the PF9 still holds the lightest 9mm title, though I haven’t been following that closely of late.
My primary EDC’s are as follows:
LCP
LC9
XDS-9
To shoot, the XDS (like my XDM in .40) is the easiest at longer ranges, but, it’s the largest, so the LCP ends up being carried more.
These are the family EDCs.
Fool proof so far, easy to shoot.
9mm for the ladies, .45 for the gents.
I recommend them from personal experience.
BTW, the extended mags make it fit my hands perfectly.
I have put many 100s of rounds (pushing a thousand) through it and it is as reliable as a Glock or XD.
10+1 of 9mm in a compact double stack is hard to beat for light and easy CCW. The DAO trigger means you really have to mean it to fire the gun, but when you pull that trigger back, it goes bang and reloads every single time.
Sure, it's a K-T, and haters will hate, but it works like a champ for me. At 7-11 distances, it will be plenty accurate, and because of its compact size and light weight, it will be on my belt under my untucked shirt.
And it's inexpensive, for those on a budget. And 9mm is the most common and cheapest center fire ammo around. Practice ammo is dirt cheap, and modern defensive JHPs are plenty effective.
I ditched my .45s years ago. Now all my defensive pistols are 9mm, so anybody can pick up any gun and go to work.
Love the Springfield design (licensed from a European company), in that it requires a full grip on the firearm before firing as opposed to the ‘just keep your finger off the trigger’ Glock design.
If that pin is not sticking out, it can't be loaded. And you can feel it in the dark as well as see it, even in your holster.
Pin is flush, chamber is empty, period.
I bought a P-11 for my Wife years ago, and it kept pinching her little finger at the mag well when she fired it. She also didn’t like the double action only trigger.
When the XDs came out, I got her the first one in .45. She loved it, and carries it every day.
The P-11 is the only gun I’ve ever sold.
I moved from an LC9 to an XDS 45.
My 22yo daughter carries a S&W 9mm Shield every day, and loves it. It's another great choice.

/ groaning..
I love my XDS. Nice little pistol. And its chambered in .45, my favorite.

Why do you keep posting this illiterate and not-very-informative crap? Are you J Hines?
What ammo are you using? I had feed problems with my LC9 when using hollow points.
The beauty of the affordable Keltec, eh?
Our ladies can all FIRE the 45s, but cannot reasonably practice and master them.
