For a left-wing civil rights organization purportedly dedicated to protecting minorities, the George Soros-supported Southern Poverty Law Center spends a lot of time peddling hatred against minorities, or at least those minorities who dare to step off the liberal plantation.
ake Maajid Nawaz, a Muslim reformist whos earned a reputation for telling it how it is about the millennia-old religion. While speaking on Londons LBC radio station last year, for instance, he boldly demanded a caller stop pretending violence and terrorism have nothing to do with Islam. During a discussion on Sky News earlier this year, he likewise slammed the media for their refusal to be honest about the U.K.s Muslim grooming gangs.
Listen to him ranting below on the LBC a couple months back about the word Islamophobia
For this sort of willingness to be candid about Islams intrinsic link to abuse, depravity and violence, he was included in a Field Guide to Anti-Muslim Extremists that the SPLC published in 2016.
The leftist mob subsequently came after him, according to National Review: The list prompted backlash from free-speech advocates and the creation of a petition on Change.org, which drew thousands of signatures. It accused Nawaz, a liberal Muslim and former Islamic extremist, of savaging Islam.'
In response Nawaz filed a suit against the SPLC, and just this Monday a court ruled in his favor, ordering the pseudo civil rights organization to pay him and his anti-extremist organization, Quilliam, a whopping $3.375 million.
BOOM!
Conservatives on Twitter were rightly thrilled:
The importance of this victory cannot be overstated. The SPLC has spent decades smearing conservatives of every race and religion. And as noted by Douglas Murray over at NRO, were everyone whos ever been unfairly smeared by the SPLC to fight back like Nawaz, it could potentially mean doom for the fake civil rights organization.
Read:
Every person who wishes for a cleaner debate on the issues around Islamic extremism (issues that the SPLC has again shown itself wholly uninterested in exploring) will welcome the news. Everybody who has seen through the baleful effect that the SPLC has had on public life will rejoice with Nawaz and Quilliam in their victory over an entity many hundreds of times better endowed than them. And every person who wants politics to breathe that little bit cleaner may well be mulling over the same thought that I am having.
What if everybody whom the SPLC has erroneously smeared over recent years the individuals, the groups, the scholars and activists took this precedent to launch legal actions of their own? The SPLC has a vast endowment of tens of millions of dollars. But going by this precedent, if everybody decided to correct the lies that the SPLC has taken upon itself to spread over recent years, then the SPLC could be shut down by the very people it has spent recent years trying to shut up. Which would not just be poetic, but justice too.
Correction: REAL justice, versus the fake justice peddled by the SPLC and supported by the Democrat-infested media.
SPLC
Slanderous
Propaganda
Libel
Communists
I’m sure they’ll pay that right up.
>snicker<
Womp womp
I’m glad they lost and it’d be nice if more people sued them and won, but they have about $500 million in their war chest. I doubt that check is more than a few days interest on their account.
I would love to see Morris Dees exposed for the fraud he is and the life he lives, begging folks for money. Typical liberal hypocrite
Now, we’re talking....
If they all start winning $3-5 million a piece, we’re gonna start talking serious money.
I trust there are many more organizations who are planning to sue. Punch back twice as hard! This has been a long time coming.
JoMa
The judge better watch his back. Soros doesn’t like to lose money.
In response Nawaz filed a suit against the SPLC, and just this Monday a court ruled in his favor, ordering the pseudo civil rights organization to pay him and his anti-extremist organization, Quilliam, a whopping $3.375 million.
It's a start. Thanks Impala64ssa.
That should provide incentive for others to sue these monsters...
