Okay, I'll say that this started happening after IMDB scrubbed their forum boards -- which I found very useful. The signal to noise ratio was pretty good, but I'm sure they dropped it so's to attract advertisement dollars. Like who wants to invest their money or give advanced information to a website that's likely to get trashed in there forums?
Now what's happening over at Netflix that I find upsetting? Films and television series that are not in English. Now I love asian films non dubbed with just Closed Captioning. And I understand that some people don't mind and that Netflix is trying to appeal to a global audience. But why do they keep it a secret until you try to watch it. I find it irritating and I'm finding more and more titles featured prominently on their front page that aren't in English.
Why can't they make a note in the mouseover info that it's dubbed or CC only and then what country it's from? Their even going as far as taking these foreign films and featuring them in their website Herald space .. the large marquee above the list of films? There's no account option to hide them and I've grown tired of it. I'll be cancelling netflix over this and their cozy deal with Obama.
Exactly. There are moments where I just want to listen to the show. Cant do that with subtitles. And I dont understand it in any language but English or German.
True but they have a lot of customers in China. Netflix has 2 billion customers. The United States is a trickle in the big picture.
Itsna great big world out there. Some of my favorite Netflix shows are from other countries.
Indubitably so.
We cancelled earlier — when they put Susan Rice on their board of directors.
Susan Rice
Barack Obama
Michelle Obama
Ugh!
It starts once you watch one. The algorithm will pull more foreign titles the more you click on them. I cancelled Netflix years ago, but by the Yemelyan I did all I saw were documentaries and Korean melodramas on my front page.
I dumped Netflix three months ago. I don't miss it. I have Amazon Prime mostly for the two day free shipping. Found some decent Amazon Originals on there however they seem to be doing the same thing Netflix did. Doubt I'm going to keep Amazon Prime much longer. I really don't watch much TV anymore, perhaps 2-3 hours a week and that's it. I can live without that too.
Wow. That had to be the worst autocorrect ever. I meant to say By the time I cancelled.
Guess I'll just give in and go with the subtitles...
You can look up the movie on IMBd, scroll down below the Storyline to Details. There are listed the languages.
Thanks, better than nothing, but a pain in the butt still.
“We cancelled earlier when they put Susan Rice on their board of directors.

Absolutely everything the liberals tough they ruin. But, of course, that is their aim, ruin everything.
Not that most of them have internet access, but don’t forget that India has more people than the US, Canada, Europe, Russia, Japan, and Australia put together!
The search function needs work. why do you have to scroll up and down AND side to side? Also, why can’t you filter out r movies, or foreign language?
“My problem with subtitles is I seem to miss the action while reading. Have been hoping ‘1864’ would come out in English. It’s about Denmark attacking Germany.”
It was Germany, actually Prussia at the time, that attacked Demark in 1864 over the border province of Schleswig-Holstein. This was when Bismarck was consolidating power to the lead up with war in 1866 with Austria then the big take down of France in 1870.
I haven’t bothered with Netflix. I’m a throwback, and I still buy DVDs at flea markets or on e-bay.
Babylon Berlin is an outstanding fifteen-part series on Netflix produced by German TV. It is a detective thriller based in the Weimar Republic of 1929. I watched the first ten minutes of it in English, but soon went back and began again in German with English subtitles. It was so much better that way.
Its great how people with nothing get rich off the presidency.
Agree
They will never do this but would like to see the following for congress and as it applies for the presidency
1. You can only earn what the job pays, no outside interests , gifts, etc of any kind
2. You can only serve 2 terms at any time
3. You cannot become a lobbyist after “ retiring” from congress
4. No special health care/retirement/Social Security exceptions or enhanced plans
“...that is their aim, ruin everything.”
Revise to “that is their aim, ruin everything AMERICAN.”
Even as a free service, I never wanted it.
T-Mobile gives me free Netflix with my plan, but, absolutely not interested in junk. I’ll just take the lower-cost plan and save a bunch of bucks, while Netflix will NEVER count me as a member/customer.
I asked the same thing!
