Virginia Rep. Tom Garrett and his wife turned the congressmans staff into personal servants, multiple former employees to the freshman Republican told POLITICO assigning them tasks from grocery shopping to fetching the congressmans clothes to caring for their pet dog, all during work hours. POLITICO has spoken with four former staffers who detailed a deeply dysfunctional office in which the congressman and his wife, Flanna, often demanded that staff run personal errands outside their typical congressional duties. The couple called on staff to pick up groceries, chauffeur Garretts daughters to and from his Virginia district, and fetch clothes that the congressman forgot at his Washington apartment. They were even expected to watch and clean up after Sophie, their Jack Russell-Pomeranian mix, the aides said.

Obviously. This is the season for this and the press willingly answer the call to do their bit to destroy the evil Republicans. Progressives stick together.
Well...yeah...
I was a Congressional Aide for two years. I did all sorts of weird crap for the man.
Picked up dry cleaning, took his kid to school, bought milk for them on the way to picking them up at the airport, etc..
Kinda goes with the territory..
Cute!
Funny story regarding that. In Ventura and Oxnard there are 2 older ladies that have a lock on the dumping black tanks business. Theyve been doing it for many years. They dont hire anyone else and do it themselves. Thousands and thousands of boats. The cheapest they charge is $25 and they work 4 days a week.
So my 16 year old granddaughter is sitting there with me one day when they show up to do the boat next door and ours. She looks out the portlite and says....wow I wouldnt want that job. I said.....really? You wouldnt dump poo for around a million a year. And then I explain all of the above to her. She says....well yeah, theyre not having to touch it or anything so yeah, Id do it. Lol
Exactly, you want a personal gopher, you pay them out of your pocket, not the taxpayer’s pocket.

I don’t think it will hurt Garrett around here. He pretty much cruised to a win in 2016, 58%-42%.
One laughable moment:
His opponent, Jane Dittmar, ran an ad on Tom’s vote against a school bill.
I showed video of Tom at a public appearance. No jacket, shirt sleeves rolled up with him saying “it was a bad bill so BOOM I voted against it” as he slams his fist against the table.
Tom should have paid her for running that ad!
Too funny - it’s considered a special honor/treat to become a page/aide in the gub’mint....they just don’t believe in paying the dues for where it might lead them and for the doors it might open...
We became their gofers.
Poor, precious Millenials
