POTTER TWP. Shell Chemicals is hiring 40 production operators who will help run the companys $6 billion ethane cracker plant once its operational early next decade.
Spokesman Joe Minnitte said Tuesday that the job postings are the first grouping aimed at local residents who are interested in working at the plant in Potter Township.
The production operators will monitor and control equipment and will also be expected to work in other operations there, according to the job posting.
The posting noted that the production operator shifts will vary while the plant is starting up operations. For instance, operators will initially be required to work a nine-day, 80-hour schedule and will focus on training to achieve required operational competence for the start-up of the new facility.
The operators will eventually transition to a 24/7 shift rotation schedule to support start-up activities and under normal operations.
Prospective applicants must have three or more years of operator experience in the petrochemical, refining, utilities or manufacturing industries, or an associates degree from a National American Process Technology Alliance program.
In addition, applicants can have military experience in a relevant job function such as aircraft maintenance, diesel mechanics, petroleum or fuel supply specialists or nuclear mechanics, among others.
Each applicant must possess a high school diploma or a GED equivalent, according to the job posting.
Prospective employees also must pass pre-employment medical screenings, background checks and drug tests that include hair and oral fluids. Employees will also be subjected to random drug screenings if theyre hired.

But where do they make those crackers with the peanut butter already in them?
Not that kind of cracker.
They’re making white people.

The correct term is “honkadelic.”
I prefer whitebread myself
I thought it was a processing plant where 40 crackers shell seafood.
Those are the kind of jobs that NY Gov. Cuomo couldn’t allow to come to his state since he wouldn’t allow drilling/fracking in that state for the shale gas that is driving the PA field development.
Thank you Shell...
Since it’s a cracker plant, can only white people work there?
