Can you tell me more about doing the customer service rep from home? (you can message me) I’m thinking about retiring soon and might be interested in something where I didn’t have to leave the house. : )
There are a lot of catalog companies or online stores that hire at-home agents. Some of them require in-person training and some will train remotely. Some of them also have restrictions on where they’ll hire from, due to the laws in different states.
Duluth Trading Company and Swiss Colony are both companies that require in-person training, but you can work from home when the training is done. Amazon hires home agents, and I’m pretty sure they’ll do the training remotely, but it’s been a while since I checked.
There are also a few companies that provide home agents for other companies. Alpine Access was the one I started with. They provided paid training (also from home), lots of support, and it was pretty easy to advance in that company. They’ve changed their name to Sykes: https://www.sykes.com/jobs/work-at-home/
They have several different types of customer service positions. Anything from tech support to order-taking. When I started I was taking inbound calls for a credit card company. Later I took tech support calls for video games. Within a short time I was promoted to training and QA for the video game tech support agents. Unfortunately I had some health issues and had to leave. (The company did their best to accommodate me while I was sick, but it was just more than could be worked around.)
If you go to indeed.com and put your location as “remote”, it will bring up a list of jobs that are about 80% work-from-home. You can refine the search from there.
