Computer? OS?
ETC. ETC.
An old HP Pavilion. Windows 7.
Thank you. I’ll check there.
My other problem seems to be no outgoing sound.
try changing the battery in the mouse, sometimes the curser function gets quirky when the battery is low.
Ctrl-v? Sometimes pressing both mouse buttons will also paste.
For some reason (chuckle), my desktop computer with Windows 10 does something similar. If I copy text from an email (Windows Mail) or a word doc (Microsoft Office), it will not paste either, unless I leave the mail window or word doc open (or minimized). If I copy text and then close out the source it does not paste. If I leave it open it will paste. Probably has something to do with clipboard but I am too lazy to look into it.

Is the mouse plugged in? Have you checked the byte filter? Byte filter clogged up probably. Have you checked for copper migration? You will need a flashlight.
Ahhh..a good book solves many problems.
I would have shrugged off your problem, but this evening I was trying to copy and paste a web link into a post, and it took me about 5 tries before it would copy. I can’t get CtrlC to copy, although the mouse buttons are working. Are you using the mouse or CtrlC / CtrlV?
I am stuned no-one has asked if you were logged in yet.
You can also copy/ paste by highlighting your desired text, right clicking that text and then selecting copy from the menu.
Then you can also paste by right clicking a space in your desired window and selecting paste from the menu.
See if that works for you or if it’s also affected by being unable to paste.
When it won’t paste, I Open Notebook, and paste into it. A Notepad document is like a slut, it will accept any paste!
Then I copy from the text document and paste into another widow, so long as both windows are not closed out.
I sometimes have to re-highlight in order to copy.
Try control V?
Also , Id lke to share that “office libre” works quite well. Free.
BTW, control “C” works for copy.
