GOP golden boy mails it in (Is Josh Hawley of MO a Choke Artist?)

FENTON, Mo. — As GOP Rep. Ann Wagner prepared to introduce candidates in a Republican Senate debate here Friday, she took a pointed jab at one contender who didn’t make it — front-runner Josh Hawley.

“I try not to tell candidates how to run their races. I don’t know where some of the other candidates are,” she told POLITICO before taking the stage in a high school auditorium, referring specifically to Hawley. “Perhaps they have conflicts. But you gotta show up to win. And I’m going to tell that to the crowd tonight.”

Moments later, Wagner followed through, declaring to the raucous applause of Republican voters on hand that “showing up matters.”

The scene encapsulated widespread concerns about Hawley. Star-struck Senate Republican leaders anointed the 38-year-old, Stanford- and Yale- educated state attorney general as their top recruit of 2018 — a squeaky-clean figure they saw as the future of the party and an ideal opponent to take on the endangered Democratic incumbent, Sen. Claire McCaskill.

Hey, you live in MO, although not from there originally. What is YOUR take on Hawley?

He doesn't go to many local events. Has to be forced to call into the local talk shows. Pisses off GOP organizers left and right. And worst of all, he doesn't seem worried about the upcoming election.

Roy Moore redeux.

He’s a million times better than McCaskill.

Perhaps. But you have to win and McCaskill is ten times the campaigner that Hawley is.

And will get a lot more. The Democrats are going to do whatever they have to to keep this seat. And the Missouri GOP will do whatever they can to help them.

Just heard, in part, on the radio some updates on Greitens. You will want to hear/read entire story later. I was driving, but apparently St.L PD investigating the Prosecuting Attorney as well as the lead investigator! Over $100K in cash payments made. She (the DA) refused to testify. Investigator took the 5TH. This is a giant crew-job perpetrated by Soros, etal.

Well, POLITICO would portray him as one anyway.
Anything to help Dems.

I ride my bike a lot in Jefferson County, MO and I’ve started seeing tons of signs for vote no on Prop A. Somehow the unions got enough signatures to force a referendum on OVERTURNING the right-to-work bill signed by the MO legislature/governor last year. This will work wonders to bring out the Dems to the ballot box.

I also think there is also going to be something about legalizing pot.

Right on both counts. I don’t know what they will do to the turnout but any impact can’t help but benefit McCaskill.
