Yeah, WW2 probably responsible for most it, though multiple Italian towns have streets named Via Abraham Lincoln. There’s also a Via Teodoro Roosevelt in Messina. It’s pretty clear that, at one time at least, there was quite a bit of admiration of America among the political establishment in Italy, (West) Germany and even France.
