We should never forget our history or the examples that good men provide. Thank you for posting.
Didn’t know about him, thanks for posting.
Fascinating story. Thanks for sharing it.
A fine American and someone we should always remember. Thank you for his story.
Thanks for the post.

Please allow me to pick a rather large nit in an otherwise exceptional piece of the story of our country’s founding HEROES.
>Today, his name is all but forgotten by our history classes pushed aside to make room for the people whose faces appear on our currency.
Sadly, our country school systems (indoctrination camps) see NO need for AMERICAN history anymore. Save for the efforts of some homeschool families and independent institutions of higher learning (Hillsdale College for one) American public schools have totally abandoned American history. I highly doubt that a significant majority of modern students could tell us ANYTHING about “the people whose faces appear on our currency”, other than what evil people they were all were because they all owned slaves and were capitalists and stuff.
Thank you for posting such an enlightening essay about a true HERO from our country’s founding days.
BTW, Mairdie, a fellow Freeper’s 5th great grandfather was a Major in the Revolutionary War and she has a web page of his journal here... http://www.henrylivingston.com/writing/prose/revdiary.htm and some of his original music with art from the Hudson River painters and passages from his journal here... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt9VZexn1ic&t=0s&list=PLYTtL1FB2XCqRMN88MpxiMXxxA1qLaRK-&index=1
Both are well worth the read / watch.
Just a closing thought, wouldn’t it be nice to have a Revolutionary War PingList ?
My thanks for this fine post!
