I think he was attempting sarcasm; lampooning white shop owners’ suspicions of blacks by saying blacks do the same as whites.(follow us around to see what we might up to, perhaps purses should be checked and the cops called on us). It was a subtle jab and mockery of supposed white attitudes towards blacks.
If he doesn’t like such attitudes from whites, perhaps he should stop simply assuming it’s just “racism” and encourage his fellow blacks to do a little soul searching themselves. Whites aren’t the ones killing blacks in Chicago, after all!
