Eighteen years after the collapse of the dot com bubble, US tech companies find themselves in another precarious situation. During the current economic expansion, stocks like Facebook, Apple, Amazon, Netflix and Google (FAANG) have led the soaring Nasdaq stock index. However, valuations have become stretched, and the party may be coming to a dramatic end very soon.
The wind has already been taken out of the sails of Facebook. A few weeks ago, #DeleteFacebook went viral after it was revealed that Cambridge Analytica gained access to the information of millions of Facebook users to learn about their identities and influence their political decisions. It has been known for years that Facebook has collected user data in a very unscrupulous manner. However, in this instance, it was done on behalf of the Trump campaign. So, it finally pissed of some very powerful people. As a result, Facebook shares have plummeted.

I heard that Netflix will be hiring all the Obama Admin
Pissed OF them, huh?
Nice blog you got there.
These look like multi media companies to me.
I really dont see them as tech but hey the worlds changing.
Or not.
Apple looks tech’ish but thats about it.
Does doing business in the Cloud and over the WWW make you a tech company these days?
Cambridge Analytica is just a diversion. How many other HUNDREDS of companies and/or people claiming to be legitimate companies, with nefarious purposes have gained access to your personal data?
FakeBook was willing to sell it to anybody who ponied up the cash................
Google and Obama were wedded at the hip. Netflix makes it a threesome.
There was a documentary on the information theft by government, and including FB sell of theirs to Cambridge A..and whomever else. I came in on the last half, but it was very enlightening.
Based on Patriot Act, and other changes during O bama timeframe, every word said on a cell phone, typed on computer, or put in e mail...or sites like FR is recorded kept and maybe not looked at until a person is arrested, or questioned by government. Then they can use any of it against us for criminal prosecution, etc.
He either ignored, or deliberately played upon, another human trait--the tendency to gossip and snoop on fellow human beings--for the same reason. Surely, he knew that providing such a platform for what had been, in other stages of technological advances, eavesdropping, listening in on party lines, or tapping of lines in order to learn information which was not shared freely between individuals in the ordinary and honorable interchanges of community.
Countless friendships, family and other traditional relationships relying on privacy and protection of confidences have been damaged by this platform, whose properties enable snoopers and others without proper personal internal boundaries around their conduct to invade and use the information they could glean through Facebook.
They all are. We met with them on Saturday on Sunset.
Really only FB and Google are in trouble, with a small chance Salesforce could get dragged in.
The rest of high tech has been busy doing what they do best.
Even Oracle wasn’t dumb enough to do the Pay-to-Play thing with the Gov.
Microsoft is involved but they isolated it to helping the NSA with security issues.
Twitter's in the same boat, too.
Good! A pox on those bastards.
Facebook should be fined a trillion dollars. Use the money for the wall and deportations and veterans
IMO, Microsoft,Intel,Cisco,Apple - these are true tech stocks. The companies listed in the article....not so much.
The business channels are reporting that Zuckerberg will tell Congress tomorrow that his company will put so much capital into making Facebook secure that it will suppress the value of the company. Expect the stock to crash when that hits the tape.
Who the hell thinks giggle and fakebook are powerful corporations
Like Northrop grummond or Apple or even Amazon
REAL PRODUCTS REAL SERVICE
advertising is only for companies that do the above items

No doubt discussed that all encompassing "database" that Mad Maxine talked about.
