The criminal gets to choose the crime, the location, the victim, the means, and the intended outcome.
The victim only gets to choose whether they fight or submit. Every person who enters a person’s home to commit a crime should be carried out in a bag.
I always was a bit “different” but I’ve never...at 7,or 17,or 47 or 67...entered a private residence without a specific invitation from the lawful occupant.

One thing to add: The criminal also chooses the time of the attack. Which might just happen to find the intended victim alone, or perhaps even asleep and alone.
