I knew a 17 year old whose father, an O-6 Army type at Fort Monroe, VA (CONARC), signed for him/his youngest son to enlist in 65. I was friends with his older brother, but; knew him. Kirk died T Day 66 with the 101st. His old man, the full Col, plus his mom, an Army nurse LTC, never got over his death. The 18 year old in 66 wanted to be in the 101st as his dad was in WWII. Big difference in 17 year old’s even in the 60’s vs. this punk.
What you say is so true. It is distressing to see the maturity of these 17-18 year olds today. They are children not ready for service.
