Yesterday, in Washington DC (United States), the President of Guatemala Jimmy Morales met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The two met to discuss deepening bilateral ties and cooperation. The Israeli Prime Minister thanked the Guatemalan President for recognizing Jerusalem as Israels capital. In response to Netanyahus, Morales replied, It is an honor and it is the right thing to do.
The Guatemalan Presidents response was reminiscent of the remark made by US President Donald Trump during his historic announcement regarding Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Regarding his announcement to recognize Jerusalem and to move the US embassy there, Trump said, This is nothing more or less than a recognition of reality. It is also the right thing to do. Its something that has to be done.
In a post-meeting Twitter post yesterday, the Guatemalan President had the following remark, Today I held a pleasant meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin, who thanked the decision to move the Embassy of Guatemala to the city of Jerusalem. The alliance between the peoples of Israel and Guatemala is stronger than ever. Blessings.
Netanyahu also took to Twitter to publicly thank the Morales for his support for Israel. (See the Twitter Post in the original article.)
Later that evening, Morales spoke at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) Policy Conference, also in Washington DC, to a crowd of more than 18,000 Israel supporters. He told the conference attendees that he will move his countrys embassy to Jerusalem in May, and that the relocation will take place two days after the United States moves its embassy to the holy city, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of Israels founding. The Presidents announcement comes just over a week after the US Department of State announced plans to move the United States embassy to Jerusalem in May of this year.
In May of this year, we will celebrate Israels 70th anniversary, and under my instructions, two days after the US will move its embassy, Guatemala will return and permanently move its embassy to Jerusalem, President Jimmy Morales told the crowd, according to The Times of Israel coverage of the event.
Well done, Guatemala. Many more will follow.
Well, you say France, GB, Germany, people will stand up and take notice. You say Guatemala? Crickets.
Winning!
(Says the Lord)”I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” Genesis 12:3
