As left-wing advocacy groups and anti-gun media personalities continue their daily assault on the National Rifle Association, frantically seeking to make them a scapegoat for the Parkland school shooting, it appears their efforts may be backfiring horrendously and have only succeeded in garnering more support for the NRA.
Last week leftist organizations and various anti-gun personalities led a social media boycott campaign against the NRA by threatening various companies who offer discounts and benefits for NRA members. Any sane, rational person would realize that the NRA is not responsible in any way for the acts of criminals, yet the objective of the left appears to be in no way related to preventing further school shootings, but rather to advance the Democrat-led agenda of banning guns for law abiding citizens while doing nothing to address the root cause of school shootings.
What liberals fail to understand is that by making the NRA a supposed culprit in the Parkland shooting, despite the organization having absolutely nothing to do with the shooter, they are also making them a focal point for supporters of the 2nd amendment. By thrusting the NRA to the center of a conversation surrounding gun control, the leftist have given 2nd amendment supporters a way to fight back against their narrative in the form of giving further support to the organization. By increasing their support for the NRA, conservatives have a direct method of not only rebuking the lefts narrative, but also further humiliating the mainstream media by showing them that they have once again vastly underestimated the silent majority.
This support for the NRA has manifested itself into a massive increase in interest for both supporting the NRA and joining the organization as a member.
Below we see a Google Trends chart outlining the increase in the number of searches for the term how to join the NRA. As you can see, the use of this search term has skyrocketed to its highest point by far in the past year since the Parkland shooting.
Not only are more people searching for terms related to joining the NRA, but the rate at which the term donate to the NRA is used has also skyrocketed, indicating a rapid increase in a desire to support the organization financially.
Even searches for the term NRA membership have seen a significant increase.
Finally, the general term support the NRA has seen a similar dramatic upswing since the Parkland shooting.
The increase in the amount of Google searches for joining, supporting or donating to the NRA can indicate that significantly more people are visiting the NRAs website directly or via other sources for the purpose of joining the organization. Google searches are not the only method of finding ways to support the NRA, of course, thus one could assume the NRA is seeing an increase of membership applications beyond what is typical since they have been made to appear the villains by mainstream media.
Similar trends concerning the purchasing of firearms, particularly assault rifles, have occurred after mass shootings under the Obama administration in fear of stricter gun laws taking effect. In fact, even CNN had to admit that Obama is The Best Gun Salesman in America after gun manufactures stocks rose to record highs following mass shootings under his watch.
If people flocked to the gun stores after previous mass shootings, eager to purchase guns before a possible ban goes into effect, then one could logically conclude that support for the NRA would actually increase when theyre under assault from the left, rather than decrease due to a negative (and totally illogical) media onslaught.
The most powerful way a consumer can show a company their support, or displeasure with their decisions, is by altering their spending habits. Twitter trolls and bots may have successfully bullied some companies into discontinuing their support of the NRA, but there are very real people willing to fight back with their wallets.
Clint Eastwood, who has often been a much needed voice of reason from the movie industry, has even broken silence on the gun control debate and voiced his support for the NRA on Twitter.
So will the lefts frantic attack on the NRA and companies who partner with them end up backfiring, only resulting in further galvanizing millions of gun owners to fervently support the organization as a way to battle the media, left-wing advocacy groups and the Democratic Party agenda?
Only time will tell, but if past events are any indicator of the future, the NRA will likely emerge from this leftist-driven assault stronger and with more members than they would have if they had not come under attack.
Liberals seem to have forgotten the silent majority who elected Donald Trump, and the fact that they are silent no longer. Their fervor, dedication to a cause and engagement cannot be measured by tweets and likes on Facebook, but rather by election results and real very boycotts of companies who lack the backbone to stand up to leftist attacks.
Liberals may tend to be the loudest (and most irrational) voices at times, but conservatives are by far the most effective at fighting for a cause that they believe in.
President Trump is doing his best to further energize the NRA and American people. He know just what to say to get everyone stirred up.
and where do you end up ?
Maybe in response to google’s censorship practices, folks should do a search on “f*ck google” several times a day.
Quinn’s First Law:
“Liberalism always generates the exact opposite of its stated intent.”
I’ve read somewhere this week that NRA gained over half-a-million new members in the past couple weeks. That’s huge.
Listening to Tuckers discussion on the second amendment and then looked at a new thread with the increased traffic in support of NRA.
Just hit me - if any democrat had said what DJT said at the gun meetings it would not have gotten people stirred up, by POTUS making the statements loudly people are going bizark demanding all second amendment rights.
THEY are joining and supporting NRA and Donald J Trump is getting the reaction he wants - We The People involved and supporting our constitution
With God and Dondald J Trump we will get our country/constitution back on track again!
Anyone have that picture of OUR president with head in hand grinning from ear to ear while he is surrounded by chaos.
Maybe because the NRA is willing to compromise on issues.
I’m a Life Member, and for my 16 yr old sons birthday, gave him a Junior Life Membership and a Mosin M44 with two spam cans of steel core.
Maybe, like me, they drop their
memberships due to financial
reasons, only to rejoin during
times such as these. (when we
are threatened with loss of rights).
My guess is there are at least
5 million “closet” NRA supporters
out there that are not in the count.
Sorry, but this is a half-as*ed attempt to explain Google search algorithms. The spike in searches for NRA donations could easily be done by anyone that opposes NRA, as a way to find how give and how to harass/punish
Sh the givers,
Yep - and he wants to broaden the ‘conversation” to encompass some of the real potential solutions that the Left doesn’t want to hear about - they are in full attack mode and will soon be telling us what an asset the mentally ill have become since being put out in the streets some 30-40 years ago - more “Nancy Pelosi Moments” in the mill....
I ***LOVE*** it.
It goes to show that the average American is not buying the leftist narrative being shoved down our throats by the media.
