He probably got caught pimping a stupid blog.
My family weren’t Catholic but we always listened to Bishop Sheen’s broadcasts. Funny, incisive, scholarly without being boring, and a man who brought the Christian religion to your table and your life. He was a gift of, and from, God.
If Sheen wasnt a saint before his physical death, theres nothing anyone can do for him now.
A great man. I watched his show as a child and his book, “Life Is Worth Living” had a profound effect on me. He certainly should be a saint.
As for the blog-pimping complaint, give me that any day rather than the proliferation of facebook-style vapid vanities that now infest this place.
You should watch more of his videos about grammar, punctuation and blog pimping.
Is that what sainthood entails? Being popular on television? Don’t there have to be verified acts of magic or something? David Copperfield never got a dinner.
Sheen was an evolutionist and a Teilhardian.
Sheen did my Confirmation at Guardian Angels Church in Henrietta, NY (suburb of Rochester). He seemed “real” to me and didn’t appear to take himself as seriously as many who adored him. I have trouble with humans deciding other humans deserve being elevated to sainthood - Being a saved believer elevates us all to sainthood, pure and holy and wholly justified, in God’s eyes and no human accolades changes or enhances this condition...Billy Graham is as much a saint as is Bishop Sheen .... as is my Mother, Father, Mother-in-Law, Father-in-Law,....and lots of living folks I know.
Keep in mind that in 1967, Sheen came out against our war effort in Vietnam.
I haven’t read anything by Jim O’Neil for a while, but he is a great writer and thinker. He asks great questions, but in today’s world I fear that Archbishop Sheen will not get the recognition he so rightfully deserves. I must agree with Jim. Just watching and listening to Archbishop Sheen’s videos is all one needs to recognize his saintly qualities.

OMG, my mom was big on him! She bought us a DVD the other year. No, I haven’t actually watched!
