Public school is no place for a child...

We need some common sense school control, NOW!

We need mentally ill control. Threy are on (or off, or addition mix in illegal psychtropics) meds to make them pass for normal until they flip out and kill people.

There are a lot of reports of previous legal contact before things get to this stage.

Lock up the criminally insane. They kill with cars, fire, poison, knives, bombs, pillows, water...

Banning guns won’t stop them. Stop THEM.

To all the Christina out there…
First of all, know that we, as parents, love you totally. With an intensity, you will not understand, until you join our ranks as a parent. Our fervent wish is to protect you from harm, to encourage your innocence, to share your daily joys, and equally share in your tragedies. Nothing is too ugly, hard, disgusting, or disappointing when it comes to you, in our eyes.
Being an adult sucks most of the time, because we deal with sometimes stark and unapologetic reality. The fact is, sometimes, people make a bad decision, and compound it by involving other people in that decision. It could be from drinking, taking drugs, acting out from bad parenting, being ignored, being picked on, or in some cases, deciding to kill. Every parent I know, would willingly die for their children. That is how deep our love is for you. Some parents have life experience that exposes them to the evil that people can perpetrate on others, and the equal determination, to see it thru, regardless of the consequences to themselves or others. That is when the momma and papa bear syndrome kicks in, and I assure you, if you’re not prepared for it, you won’t believe it’s possible from that person.
As an adult, we shield you from this awful reality as much as possible, because surely one day, we won’t be able to protect you further, you will face it head on. At that time we can only support you in the aftermath of ANY tragedy. But, we have our opinions on how we can protect you, and those opinions will be heard. You don’t have to agree, and in fact, we prefer that you keep your innocence and need for people to want to be loving and kind, forgiving and understanding, as long as possible.
We don’t have that luxury. Your safety comes first, in all instances. And like it or not, we will do everything to protect you, even if it means you hate us for doing it.
So, as an experienced emergency responder, an EMT for 8 years, a volunteer fireman for as many, I have seen stupidity on a grand scale, bad decisions costing people their lives, or the lives of others. I have also seen and been a part of the miracle of birth, delivering 8 babies into the world in my lifetime. I have saved lives, and lost them, with equal determination and desire. I do not want for anyone to die needlessly.
There comes a time when an individual makes a conscious decision to take others’ lives, no amount of talking, or reasoning, counseling, or discussion will change this person’s decision. At this point, harsh reality kicks in, and hard decisions need to be made, and quickly. Experience kicks in, and action takes over.
With the school shooting, this young man decided to end lives. He went into an environment that was gun free, with a determination to kill without interference. He made the decision to kill, not the weapon. The rifle was only the means to accomplish his goal. As a parent, who loves his children, what would I do to prevent this from happening? The absolute minimum to protect my child? Surely not. But, an armed faculty, or a fully armed security person, would probably have prevented this from happening in the onset. Most shooters in his position, would not knowingly go into a school that is armed to fight back.
None of us wants to have to do this, but it’s the world we live in today. We have to be able to protect ourselves and those we love. It comes from a place of intense love for our children and respect for life. One day, when you’re a parent, you will feel the intense need and desire to keep those you love safe.

Public schools are dangerous…especially those of over 1000 students. The one in FL was over 3,000 and Texas has a few of 5,000-6,000. Putting that many teenagers in one place is just asking for trouble because no school can monitor that many.

The Left immediately wants to ban “assault weapons,” saying that they didn’t exist when the Second Amendment was passed.
Using their reasoning, only newspapers should be allowed to disseminate the news because radio, television and the internet didn’t exist when the First Amendment was passed.

If it was not for our need for day care for our kids up to age 18, there would be no need for public schools today.

Period.

Any school that cannot ensure the safety of its students needs to be closed.

No child should be made into a fish in a barrel.

These schools are derelict in their duty.

Technology allows people to get an education in the safety of their own home. Why put them at risk during travel (see fatal bus acciedents), social bullying, violations of trust when teachers are romping with the students, and of course the violence.

Get rid of schools, and school violence goes away PERFECTLY.

Government schools are unsafe indoctrination camps.

All parents should send their daughters and sons to private schools.

The sad part of the Florida school shootings is the government had ample warnings this kid was dangerous but ignored them. I.E. the polices same to his house over 36 times.

When was the last time you heard of a mass execution of students in a private school?

Yesterday, when I had a similar thought to the one you express here; but I Googled US school massacres first. I found this at the first suggested link

October 2, 2006 Nickel Mines, Pennsylvania 6 3 West Nickel Mines School shooting: 32-year-old milk truck driver, Charles Carl Roberts IV, killed five Amish girls and wounded five others before killing himself in an Amish school in the hamlet of Nickel Mines, in Bart Township, Lancaster County

Tried "Levin" last night (usually I don't listen anymore). He made an interesting point. All of the "solutions" for solving the problem, the liberals are against. Teachers being armed and trained ... nooooo, can't do that! Cops at schools ..... nooooo, that would make the children uncomfortable. Arrest potentially dangerous people ....noooooo, they have rights too! The reasons we cannot protect our children are given to us by the liberals. Their solution? Gun control. Regardless the PROOF of FAILURE that Chicago gives us. It is the murder capital of the USA and they have strict gun laws. Bottom line? Liberals are putting our children at risk.

(Liberalism is a mental disorder, what more proof do we need?)

I’m in the midst of school control
I take on about 10 bureaucrats at a time
They back off
Tried to paint my kid as a bully
I bullied them in return
They backed off
I ask questions like
What are the kids learning in mathematics?
Take no shit. Don’t sign anything. Don’t accept any counseling crap
That’s how you survive

Civilization is a thin veneer at best. Humanity's normal state is brutish and violent where might makes right and only the strong and cunning survive.

So what is happening? Why are we as a people devolving?

In my opinion it is a lack of morality. I know it sounds old fashioned but it is morality that teaches to have empathy to those less fortunate, to help those in need, to protect the weak, to realize what is right and what is wrong, to seek to do the former and to avoid doing the latter.

As opposed to the what-ever-you-want, what-ever-feels-good, me-first-every-one-else-last, mentality that seems to abound these days, and not just in our youth.

Morality is what puts a leash on our built-in, uncivilized impulses and allows society to flourish.

People with a moral code tend not to be bullies or murderers. It is no coincidence that the more we distance ourselves from morality, the more these types of events happen.

I'll get off my soap box now.

Good points about private and charter schools being void of such problems. But “closing public schools” ain’t gonna happen. Ever.

You want to stop school shootings. Harden the target, it’s that simple.

ANOTHER REASON TO HOMESCHOOL

This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)

The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
