"Today, Jake Ryan was charged and sentenced to One year and one day in prison and 30 days for each misdemeanor. This news breaks our hearts. Our thoughts and prayers are with Jake and his family...In defense of the Hammonds the Ryan family stood. We now stand with them all. #freejakeryan"

Post on Ammon Bundy Facebook page 1043pm Pacific Time 1/24/2018

"I'm sui juris. I'm a man capable of handling my own affairs."

Jake Ryan speaks at his sentencing at US District Court-Portland, Oregon 1/24/2018

Jake Ryan had a good reputation in his community, the support of his sheriff and no criminal record as he face sentencing in connection with the Oregon Standoff protest.

Yet today as was not the case with previous defendants facing sentencing US District Judge Anna J. Brown claimed Jake Ryan was a flight risk because of his views and was not willing to admit he was wrong. She ordered him to be taken into custody immediately by US Marshals.

Jake Ryan was convicted in the second Oregon Standoff trial, a rigged process involving both Judge Brown and the office of US Attorney Billy Williams, appointed temporarily by the Obama Administration and now nominated in President Trump's name to be US Attorney permanently in Oregon.

Ryan wanted to represent himself today but the judge still wanted his defense lawyer to make an argument trying to suggest his sentence shouldn't be too harsh because his role was so small. Jesse Merrithew argued for a sentence of probation.

The prosecution wanted a year and half term.

In the end Judge Brown handed down one year and one day for a felony and 30 days each of two misdemeanors. Ryan already served 50 days after his 2016 arrest and that should count towards his time in prison.

Ryan responded when a member of the Paiute Tribe said his digging of a trench was near a sacred burial ground was disturbing. Ryan said: "If I would have known that was actual burial site, I wouldn't have done it". His intention in digging the site was self-defense from from the heavily armed federally led forces that had already killed LaVoy Finicum and injured Ryan Bundy.

Its become obvious since the end of the first Oregon Standoff trial where the jury found the "leaders" of the Oregon Standoff not guilty that Judge Brown has been out to get someone, anyone she can convicted of something in connection with the protest. Brown met with the first trial jurors minutes after the not guilty verdicts to ask why they came to their decision.

The rigging of the second trial including her limiting of defense arguments and witnesses in the second trial stood out loud and clear.

Now Judge Brown has seen the Bundy's leaving the Nevada courtroom free men, not convicted of anything and she no doubt was aware that Ryan and Cliven Bundy spoke in Montana last weekend at a rally organized by Jake Ryan's family, among others.

Brown was fit to be tied and out to get someone in my humble opinion.

Sorry to hear this.

These incidents should never have been tried in Federal Court.

But they were.

The “deep state” trying to get their “pound of flesh” anyway possible since they’ve pretty much been routed in every other facet of this case...

Some background from OregonLive:
Ryan, who turns 29 on Saturday, spent about two weeks at the refuge and was convicted of using a government excavator to dig two trenches near the end of the occupation and later ducking an arrest warrant. He was arrested on April 5, 2016, found hiding in a shed in rural Clark County with a loaded .45-caliber handgun and several knives.

A jury found Ryan guilty of depredation of government property, a felony, and the judge found him guilty of trespass and tampering with government vehicles and equipment, two misdemeanors.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Ethan Knight urged a year-and-a-half prison sentence for Ryan. He noted that Ryan came with multiple guns to the refuge, his presence at the refuge was prolonged and his digging of the trenches wasn't a single impulsive act. He also went into hiding to avoid arrest, the prosecutor noted.

The government doesn't dispute Ryan's positive role in his Montana community, but that only suggests "he should have known better,'' Knight said.

Ryan dug the trenches on what prosecutors called a "sensitive cultural site'' that holds significant meaning to Burns Paiute tribal members. Video evidence showed Ryan using an excavator to scoop out dirt on Jan. 27, 2016, the morning after the occupation leaders were arrested and police fatally shot occupation spokesman Robert "LaVoy" Finicum. The government has assessed the damage at $146,659.

"A jury found Ryan guilty of depredation of government property, a felony"

Yet Hillary Clinton and the FBI smash cell phones and laptops to destroy evidence

This is ref: the ‘stand-off’, correct? Where they ‘took-over’ a site that was *shut down for the Winter*?

How exactly is THAT “depredation of government property”??

Perfect. So, for Judge Brown, the “winning?” federal argument is Jake Ryan should not have been fearful after watching LaVoy Finicum being gunned down by federal agents for crashing into the snow avoiding a collision with a roadblock?

Works for me.

So the total sentence is 426 days. If he gets time off for
the 50 days served then it could be reduced to 376 days.

I find myself distrusting the FBI and the Judiciary. Not a little but a lot. Why should he have trusted any of those galoots? And this judge made a mockery of justice. She should be voted out or removed.

When you read the “Larry Wooten Memo” and listen to the Leftists call the Bundys and their supporters a “cult”, a “hate group” you get the picture.

Outfits like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Anti-Defamation League have lowered themselves to calling other human beings in essence “Untermenschen” like was done in Germany.

This mentality seemed present in law enforcement as evidenced by Wooten’s detailed view of what they were thinking in Vegas.

I think that mindset was in Oregon, too.
