I think what happened here is that over the past decade...all of this news media propaganda business, around-the-clock news, fake news, and social media attention...have reached a level where people within the beltway are no longer able to carry out their basic functions without thinking politically.

If you went back prior to 2000, if you were a federal employee...you had a function, a mission, a purpose. You could put aside your political preferences and just do your work. I don’t think that environment exists today. When you look at anything (the NFL, taxation, church business, national parks, Mexican fiestas, FBI agents, etc)....you are thinking something political in the mix.

For these FBI folks, I think their lives have become all twisted up and they can’t do the job that they’ve been hired to do. You might as well give them some basement office and nothing of significance to do for the remainder of their career. I’m almost of the mind that you have to dissolve the FBI, and start from scratch to rebuild the agency.

I think you're right. We're witnessing the effect of all the brainwashing since early Clinton, around 1992. Constant and it's almost like a cultural thing now to politicize everything. Everyone has an opinion, everyone now thinks fighting against ‘the system’ is cool. ‘Whatever is must be changed’ for the better and similar tomes. Cut and paste phrases, feelings over thought, hollywood, pop culture. . many factors. And as you said, the beltway is not immune plus, as I mentioned, I think there are a lot of hard core communists in the government and they smell blood. It feels like things are escalating, all the way around.

You make some very good points about the obsession with politics. It’s always been a Dem and leftist thing - remember the leftist slogan, “ the personal is the political” meaning everything you did had to be motivated by your adherence to the party line. And once the media took up the chant, there was no escape from it and life became all politics all the time.

One of the disadvantages of the GOP as a party and conservatives in general in our attempt to counter the left is that we have never been obsessed, we have outlside influences in our lives (usually religious) that keep things in perspective, and we trust in ideals, laws and - dare I say it- reality. For the left, there is no other authority or principle but leftist politics and the state shaped by them. Anything is legitimate for them because they are the new man and everything they do is good and justified by their adherence to leftist political positions and their opposition to anything, particularly anything in the sphere of private life (such as religion, adherence to ethics or moral standards, etc), that might challenge this.

So I can believe them capable of anything now and it wouldn’t surprise me if they discussed ways of getting rid of their “enemy” that went way beyond the usual lawfare and dirty political tricks.
