It was floated by W: allowing a TINY % of SS to be invested by the owners. You would have thought they were talking about clubbing puppies and baby seals in the village square!

LOL. Ask Congress if they pay into the SS system. You may be surprised... and angered. Congress isn’t stupid, just as they exempted themselves from Obamacare, they, long ago, exempted themselves from Social Security.

Yup.

Problem is those many millions of people who will either spend their money early, or suffer from bad investments. The whole theory of welfare (SS included) is creating a “safety net”; like it or not, politicians aren’t going to let lots of people just die when your money could just be redistributed.

Damn right! It is my money! And now they they want to say to bad we pi$$ed it away and you get $crewed! Between the Government and the supposit knowledgeable investment professionals most people have been repeatedly rob and little or nothing done about. Sooner or later those who should have went to jail will be wishing they did because I see a rope and a lamp post in their future.

I did just that. It's called a 401(k). I've been averaging double digit returns over the past 30 years. Now I have enough saved to not worry about what I'm going to get from Social Security.

Though I do wish I didn't have to pay all that FICA money out over the years! I would have gladly given up my rights to benefits in exchange for getting out of the FICA program entirely.
