Many of us who have to buy some kind of cable television have avoided the overpriced, premium movie channels that rotate the same films and occasionally give you a new option you'll watch once. So we're forced to buy a basic cable package that has a very few daily go-to channels and others we have no real reason to waste our time on and that's how they get us.
Imagine how many more people would sign up for cable if they ONLY have to pay for channels and content they wanted?

All, for years now.
I could do without ABC, NBC, MSNBC, CBS, CNN and increasingly, FOX.
+1
Cable?
What’s that?
There are only 5 or so channels I’d be interested in. Whether cable or OTA, most of the channels here are in Spanish or Korean.
I do not need the gorilla channel nor do I watch it.
I’d like to have Smithsonian Channel but Comcast wants you to do an entirely new package to get it.
Shows I like include Vikings, Knighfall, Blue Bloods, Fox and Friends, Varney, Dobbs, Hannity, and Seal Team 6.
Most of those eventually end up on Netflix.
It is hard to imagine life without Tivo. I have 3 boxes.
My kids watch stuff on their phones, but I prefer a full TV and a computer to do check stuff out while I am watching TV.
I had no cable or television for many years, and only subscribed again in order to have sports for my son and his friends. They tend to congregate here, and I like that. When they’re here watching sports I don’t have to worry so much about what they’re being exposed to.
It would be better to ask which basic cable channels would you want. I would want all four Broadcasting channels: ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. On cable I want Fox news Channel, Fox sports Detroit, FX, food Network..
Premium channels: showtime
I actually wind up watching the Spanish channels, since my wife watches it. She got the Spanish-Language package from Direct TV.
What’s funny is that it comes with the Spanish Sports channels, so now if I want to watch a college football game on ESPN on my laptop, my only option is to watch it with the Spanish-Language commentary.
And you know what? I actually prefer listening to the Spanish announcers over the English ones.
Refrigeration, indoor plumbing, wheels and a radio baby! If you can't find a dame and make a cozy life out of that, then you're a screwball.
all the music and spanish and public service channels.
I could do without your stupid blog trying to score traffic from Free Republic.
Same here, all of them. I got tired of the crap.

This one, for sure.
All the series’ I like all end up on Netflix or Prime. I can get local news without cable. Local college sports are all I’d really miss.
Ditto.
Although I do miss a few.
Game Show channel.
Glad I vs taped about 100 shows.
TMC
TV Land
TV is junk food for the mind.
Gave it all up last year. The only thing I kind of miss is live weather reporting during a storm. I always found that entertaining and weather from the Web just isn’t as much fun. Oh well.
