Got an opinion on the S&W Shield in 9?
I’ve also carried G26,19&23 IWB for many years, I have a Shield and a PPS, the difference in carry is pretty substantial. That being said, I shoot my Glocks a good bit better than those single stacks, and I like Glocks more also.
I’m very happy with my Glock 17!!!
Glock 19/23 is as small as I want to go, size wise. Glock 23 is my primary carry pistol.
.40 or bust?
Yes, the XD in .40 is a nice bedside backup. With the underbarrel red laser it lights up the path to the nerdowell quite nicely!
Another sterling example why it’s G-d’s own mystery why anyone bothers to visit Am Shooting Journal, yet, ironically, it by far is the most frequently quoted-from gun website on this board.
It’s a shame the dinosaurs had to die so we could watch that pointless piece of fluff.
Cocked and locked is the only way for any variety of 1911. Haven’t shot myself yet, but always check the safety when I put it in my pocket. Same is true if I just grab my little Browning .22. Own a Smith Bodyguard also, but it usually just sits in the house. I don’t care for the long first pull. Usually end up shooting low with it.
A little hard to carry concealed, but definitely make a nice hole. Your Glock comment reminds me of a guy I saw at Walmart one day... if you’re carrying, do not wear your “GLOCK” hat... couldn’t resist checking for the print and found it in about two seconds!
Even a .22 you’re comfortable with is better than nothing... I like the 1911 style, but the .45 is just too big and bulky.
I’ve been tempted to get a “Guns are scary!” T-shirt, just so no one will look for the 686+ on my side.
I guess I could get a “Save the Whales” shirt and have the same effect.
Now, if the author wanted to compare and contrast carrying a Glock 43 & a S&W 686+, he might have some significant differences to discuss! Me? I think I can hear an XDS 45 calling my name.
Yeah, it makes it a little difficult, but I do OK with it. I just don’t like the looks of a Glock and up to a certain point, all you’re buying are looks and a name. My Webley is a perfectly reliable sidearm, looks mean as hell, I can plug a target in the black from 30 meters with it, and as you said- it makes a very nice hole.
