Joe walked into the living room brightly decorated for Christmas. The tree glittered with all the decorations and packages underneath. He thought it odd how the Gold Star on the tree matched the star on the window as the snow fell silently in the background. The dull pain in his chest returned as he looked at the lone gold star stuck on the window. Joe looked at his lovely wife of 27 yrs, wondering when he would ever see that smile light her face again. He walked into the room all decorated for Christmas, minus the joy. She was wrapped in her blanket with a cup of coffee looking at the picture that has become part of her hand . Merry Christmas honey he said, wishing that it were true. She looked up at him and said, There are no more Merry Christmases for me, theyve been taken away. Iraq stole them from me.
I know I miss him too. We have to accept it and start to move on
She didnt even look up and said, You can move on, but I never will. He was my only son and he was taken from us for a silly war. I hate that he went off to a war that was unnecessary by a crazy policy. I hate Bush and everything about him. He killed my son as far as Im concerned. I hate him, I hate Christmas and I hate God for punishing me this way.

Merry Christmas Bray, and thank you.
Can we all just slow down, and remember that this season is terribly painful for many. Yes, even many FReepers -
Families are torn apart, old hatreds surface, we’re lonely, maybe alone and bitter.
This is a great time to remember neighbors who need a kind word. Maybe an invitation to dinner, or just a phone call.
Only Christ will bring real peace. How would He react to that one; the one you’re thinking of right now...
Young men go off and do crazy things seeking glory sometimes, causing much pain to their parents...
What a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing it!
Merry Christmas from the “airborne” family!
Merry Christmas to my FReeper FRiends!
I lost my wife to cancer this past June and it’s been a tough time ever since, especially over the Holidays. To all my FReeper FRiends who are going through the same thing, you are not alone and my thoughts and prayers go out to you!
Merry Christmas Rochester. I lost my brother a month ago and it gives great peace that he is in heaven.
Hope this story gave you some comfort. You are in my prayers.
Good story bray. I hope others will read it. Merry Christmas from a once upon a time Dayville Oregon rancher.
Merry Christmas Bray!
Thanks bray! My condolences to you on the loss of your brother. Yes, he is in Heaven as is my wife and it does give me peace as well. I still miss her deeply though...
You will see her in a blink of an eye.
