Sunday my daughter picked a toy poodle and named her Luna (which is Latin for moon). Then, Monday President Trump decides we are going back to the moon. Coincidence? Maybe.
Luna is on the left. 🌚
To: Berlin_Freeper
We will bring her home in January, after she is 8 weeks old.

When my daughter got home she told me Luna is a Super Hero Toy Poodle.
Already she has inspired USA back to the moon.
In a mystical power kind of way.

Ma daughter has an American passport.

They cleaned up a disused parking lot very near us and are selling Christmas trees. The trees are from Rügen Island, where we have been to for our last three summer vacations. Coincidence? Maybe.

And NASA can defund the Global Warming science, since it’s “settled”

Wont this new policy be a distraction from NASAs islamic outreach program? Just when weve come so far...

Some would say, “Meh...been there, done that”, and for the life of me I can’t understand how someone could be so jaded that the idea of returning to the moon and a mission to Mars would seem uninspiring to them. I pity the fools!

Been there, done that. Why go back? To show we can still do what we did 50 years ago? Not so inspiring.

Returning to the moon would be the first leg of a mission to Mars. It would not be doing "what we did 50 years ago". The science(s) and technologies we used in the 1960's are either obsolete or they have advanced in ways that most of us are unaware of. When it does happen, those of us who do remember Mercury, Gemini and Apollo won't be thinking that we're seeing it all over again because it would absolutely not be doing what we did 50 years ago.

Awwww...... Okay, if she picked the one on the left, I’ll take the one on the right. :)

I remember when the NASA Director said that one of Obama’s first statements to him was that we had to make Muslims feel good about themselves thru the space program.
Will walking on the face of the Moon God do that?
To: equaviator
What amazes me about going back to the moon is that mission control can now be done by a couple of guys sitting in the cafeteria working on their iPhones.

“Returning to the moon would be the first leg of a mission to Mars.”
Landing on the moon has been established as a requirement. There are many ways to get there including landing on Phobos or using a lunar orbiting station as a jumping off point. There is probably not enough money to land on the moon AND go to Mars.

Correction, I meant to say that landing on the moon has NOT been established as a requirement.
