Either way, if the goal is to reduce carbon emissions, taxes have the exact opposite effect.
Stop exhaling if you believe CO2 is a dangerous pollutant
There are trillions to be made trading CO2. Trillions.
They will never give up until they get it. There is no limit to what they will do to get it.
Its all about raising the funds to finance the welfare state using the climate as an excuse to sucker the people into accepting the new taxes.
"Carbon Taxes Increase Global CO2 Emissions. Period."
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
Patriots are reminded that the states have never expressly constitutionally delegated to the feds the specific power to regulate environmental issues.
Congress is not empowered to tax for those purposes which are within the exclusive province of the States. Justice John Marshall, Gibbons v. Ogden, 1824.
From the accepted doctrine that the United States is a government of delegated powers, it follows that those not expressly granted, or reasonably to be implied from such as are conferred, are reserved to the states, or to the people. To forestall any suggestion to the contrary, the Tenth Amendment was adopted. The same proposition, otherwise stated, is that powers not granted are prohibited [emphasis added]. United States v. Butler, 1936.
In other words, the states would first need to amend the Constitution with an environmental amendment before the feds could deal with pollution and politically correct global warming.
who are more than happy to raise taxes while scoring political points [emphasis added]."
Mr. Morrison got that right.
With all due respect to the family, friends and supporters of the late Pres. Nixon (I believe), he was wrong to sign environment-related bills into law.
That being said, patriots need to finish the job that they started in the 2016 elections by electing Trump president.
More specifically, patriots now need to be making sure that there are plenty of state sovereignty-respecting, Trump-supporting patriot candidates on the 2018 primary ballots and pink-slip career lawmakers by sending patriot candidate lawmakers to D.C. on election day.
Drain the swamp! Drain the swamp!
Let’s add this up & see what we have. CO2 is not a pollutant,so there is no sensible reason to be taxing it. It’s not causing any problems at or anywhere near the present concentration in the atmosphere. As one comment suggested,it seems there are big bucks to be made in “carbon trading”. It’s not the average person who would benefit from this. The extra taxes,or fees,or whatever it would be called will only make life more difficult for the average person. I thought by now that most people realized that the renewable forms of energy(solar & wind mainly)are not in a position that would even begin to replace the “fossil fuels”. To me,this whole “carbon tax” is nothing but a scam that would accomplish nothing good.
Fedzilla has the largest carbon footprint of any organization on Earth, and the largest negative return on investment. Taxes aren’t just collected, they are quickly spent and then some. Spending is directly proportional to pollution output. It is not possible to spend the carbon taxes without emitting more carbon than before.
