This year marks the 95th annual National Christmas Tree Lighting. The tradition began in 1923 with President Calvin Coolidge and takes place in President's Park, just south of the White House. It was quite a sight even before it was fully lit:
The Presidents message was simple:
Today is a day that I've been looking very much forward to all year long, the president said. Its one that we've heard and we speak about and we dream about and now, as the president of the United States, its my tremendous honor to now wish America and the world a very Merry Christmas.
"For Christians this is a holy season, the celebration of the birth of our lord and savior Jesus Christ," Trump said in his remarks. "There's hardly an aspect of our lives today that his life has not touched - art, music, culture, law and our respect for the sacred dignity of every person, everywhere in the world."
Melania looked her lovely self in a red wool Christmas coat woven with golden threads
that reflected the golden tree:
It will no doubt be criticized as gaudy. And youll hear the media claim that the ceremony was sparsely attended.
And they will fail to mention that this is common for the event as the 20,000 tickets available are raffled to people all over the country and many are unable to attend, a fact even during those magical Christmases throughout the wonderful years of the Obama Occupation:
But we are long past caring, or even listening to what the media thinks. We focus on the Presidents message to America:
"We pray that our country will be a place where every child knows a home filled with love, a community rich with hope and a nation blessed with faith. On behalf of Melania, myself, Barron, all of my children, all of my grandchildren-- they're here with us tonight-- I want to thank you, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America. Thank you very much, Merry Christmas, everybody."

opened this thread to post the Fox5DC link, but you beat me to it.
ABC’s Steve Rudin definitely set out to deceive when he tweeted the pic showing the empty seats, without showing the crowds in the standing area at the back.
as the Fox article states:
While there are empty chairs seen in the back of the audience this year, you can still see many attendees in the standing room section behind them. The following photo was taken by FOX 5s Lauren DeMarco during this years event.
that’s the photo you posted with the crowds at the back.
shame on Rudin.
“”...For Christians this is a holy season, the celebration of the birth of our lord and savior Jesus Christ,” Trump said in his remarks. ...”
Many thanks for posting this article !
President Trump includes himself among those who follow Christ, with those words:
“our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ”.
should have said abc7’s steve rudin’s tweet is in the Fox article linked from your post, but here it is anyway with the expected, mostly nasty replies. MSM disgusts me.
TWEET: Steve Rudin ABC7: The National Tree Lighting ceremony was beautiful this evening - but hard not to notice the empty seats (PIC)
FLOTUS had on a beautiful coat.
Indeed. I love these threads of Melania. And I am horrified by what the MSM tries to do to her. I hope she stays strong and keeps perspective over how many people truly love her.
Merry Christmas, y’all!
“They” made all sorts of ugly comments about the WH decorations on twitter and photoshopped in scary scenes from The Shining and such.
“They” have nothing going for them and they live in their fetid consciousness. We live in light and happiness and joy at the potential for the future in our POTUS and FLOTUS.
And the Happiest of Christmases to you, as well, dear bgill.
