Yuck - having accidentally stepped in (fresh) bear poop while out hiking & gotten it in my boot treads, it is stinky stuff. I had to take them off & leave them down the trail when we stopped for lunch & thought I was going to have to tie the boots to the roof rack to get them home. We did run into the bear further down the trail ..... with her cubs. One went up a tree (it was about the size of a cocker spaniel) & mama made some very unhappy noises. We backed up & fortunately, she took the cubs & left the scene.
