Putting man on the moon
Eradicating disease after disease.
Mastering communications capability so people around the world can talk to each other in real-time.
Mastered travel such that someone can travel around the entire world in the the amount of time it used to take to travel fifty miles.

And to think people wondered how the two systems of ancient Egyptian writing were lost. The foreign rulers, the Greeks, the Romans, and the Arabs killed it intentionally. In the case of handwriting I think it's more of a symptom of neglect because so few people actually write on paper anymore.
I think I have to step up as a dad and get my teenager some cursive tutoring. She has a beautiful hand for printing and I'm sure her cursive would be spectacular.
They are starting to teach elementary kids handwritten again in AZ and my youngest child who is in grade school is actually been taught cursive.
