New York: There were chaotic scenes at the closing of the controversial FERGUSON play in Manhattan. The near riot situation took place at the closing night curtain, when cast member, Cedric Benjamin, who plays Michael Browns friend Dorian Johnson, urged the standing room audience to turn on their phones and record him as he accused the FERGUSON play of being unbalanced and biased. Benjamins rant was shut down by director Jerry Dixon, calling the actor unprofessional and ordered him to stop and told the cast the performance was over and they were "dismissed." As the argument and shouting spilled into the foyer and the street Benjamin attacked playwright Phelim McAleer and accused him of "White Arrogance."

I think the actor was criticizing the play for not being more supportive of the accepted Michael Brown ‘The Victim of Oppression’ narrative.
If this conflict was real, the playwright, an up in age white man took a risk arguing on a darkened street with the actor.
Things could easily have gotten violent.
In a different play, this would make an interesting ending to the performance. Break character, and have an open ended debate with no clear winner. It sounds very much like something Michael Moore would do, except we all know any staged argument would finish in agreement with his personal views.
He was promoting his own “alternative facts”.
Well, some are, some aren't.
You are correct that people who did not use logic to form a position can not be talked out that position using logic. However, logical arguments are still important for several reasons:
1) We are logical. By presenting a fact-based argument we are being true to our own beliefs and offering a distinction rather than just an opposing side.
2) In a debate, you are not trying to convince your opponent you are correct; you are trying to convince the audience you are correct. The people who are undecided can definitely be swayed by facts and logic.
3) Maybe I’m being overoptimistic, but I believe logic, objective facts, and reason are the best ways to understand the world. If we live our lives by these metrics, and our opponents use emotion and whimsy, I believe we will succeed while they fail.
At a play about Ferguson, just keeping it real.
Let's not forget that this was the core statement of Kapernick's kneeling protest that started the NFL protest. The NFL has tried to water this down by proclaiming that it is a protest about social justice in general. What the NFL is actually supporting is a claim that the police are systematically murdering blacks.
Who played the little guy Brown roughed up during the robbery?
A man with a pair...the one who shut it down
Actually it does. It is taken directly from the Grand Jury testimony
The steady decline in interest in leftist screed masquerading as drama puzzles analysts. Thanks sloop3.
“Benjamins rant was shut down by director Jerry Dixon, calling the actor unprofessional and ordered him to stop and told the cast the performance was over and they were “dismissed.””
Why didn’t Dixon just blame the audience, you know, like the NFL does when its players act up. How DARE he interfere with the actor’s First Amendment rights. LOL.
You couldn’t pay me to go see a play about Ferguson. However, if it were a video game and I get to shoot Michael Brown and all the post shoot protesters with an AR 15 with limitless magazine I’d be on it ASAP.
“Sometimes it falls to a dramatist to correct journalists, and the journalist-turned-filmmaker-turned playwright Phelim McAleer has done a public service in sifting out the truth in Ferguson, a breathless 90-minute courtroom drama in which all dialogue is taken verbatim from the 25-day grand-jury proceedings that resulted in a decision not to charge Wilson.”

This must have been one of those plays where the actors didn’t know beforehand what the lines they would be saying were going to be.
"Im tired of these activists spouting talking points," said McAleer. "If they think my play FERGUSON misrepresents the Grand Jury testimony - they need to create their own play, but they never do because any reasonable fair reading of the transcripts show that Darren Wilson was justified in shooting Michael Brown who was on a crime spree that day."
I suspect new life has been breathed into the play...
Liberals are smart enough to understand logic too.
I only am speaking about this guy. Most who aren’t emotionally invested in their position can be reasoned with.
This guy clearly keeps rejecting reason and facts.
Good point - we can leave out black NFL players and the white owners...
Ummm, have you checked out the idiot NFL owners?
