Last year, Ivanka, a presidential adviser, had visited Hindu temples in Virginia and Florida as part of Diwali. Next month, she will be in Hyderabad for two days to attend the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit.

US President Donald Trump's entrepreneur daughter Ivanka, who joined him in Tuesday's Diwali celebrations at the White House, also took to Twitter to wish Indians across the globe a joyous Diwali. Her "Saal Mubarak" greeting was accompanied by a reminder that she will be in India next month for the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).

President Trump yesterday kicked off Diwali festivities at the Oval Office by lighting a diya. He wished all Indian-American members of the administration, including Nikki Haley, Seema Verma and Federal Communications Commission chairman Ajit Pai a great Diwali and stressed that he greatly values his relationship with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi

While expressing his appreciation for Indians "who have built the world's largest democracy", he wrote in a Facebook post, "Today, I was deeply honoured to be joined by so many administration officials and leaders of the Indian-American community -- to celebrate Diwali -- the Hindu Festival of Lights."

Calling Indians "treasured and beloved members of our great American family", he said, "Our Indian-American neighbours and friends have made incredible contributions to our country - and to the world. You have made extraordinary contributions to art, science, medicine, business and education. America is especially thankful for its many Indian-American citizens who serve BRAVELY in our armed forces and as first responders in communities throughout our great land."

A video of the White House celebrations and Trump's message was posted to the President's Facebook page.

Last year, Ivanka, a presidential adviser, had visited Hindu temples in Virginia and Florida as part of Diwali. She will be in Hyderabad for two days to attend the annual Global Entrepreneurship Summit. She is leading the American delegation at the summit that will be co-hosted by India and the US. Ivanka will speak at the inaugural session along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the evening of November 28.
