There are many politicians, especially on the federal level who've never served, sought and obtained deferments, and some who've embellished aspects of their time in to get elected. But there are some things that those who've never served should never interject themselves into. Many of us who served know of at least one person who died during an op. We all have our personal ways of dealing with such an event and if I may be so bold, I don't think any of us would take offense at the term "knew what he signed up for".

I thought what Trump said was praising the soldier’s courage, personally. That is, the soldier just didn’t stumble into danger, he was willing to risk it and go there.
It’s disgusting that a couple of leftists with racial obsessions should twist his words like that.
especially when the words that follow the above are that he was serving with heroes like himself; people he loved and respected; honorable people defending their country's interests like he was....

At least THAT rodeo clown has a real cowboy had on, unlike the ignant Ms. Wilson, who wears fake cowboy hats covered with sequins and sparkly **** that she buys in party stores.
He knew what he signed up for and did the job anyway. That makes him and everyone that does the hard stuff that others can’t do or will not do a Hero in my book.
He died protecting us, can we not respect that and quit all this BS.

I’m going to hazard a guess that Trump likely spoke to Kelly and/or Mattis beforehand to get some insight on how to make those very difficult calls.
I think that’s exactly what Gen Kelly said...that Trump consulted them/him before making the calls.
I would think you are correct, I’m sure he had some advice on that matter.
