When former President Bill Clinton was commander-in-chief, he kept a unique talk piece on a table in the Oval Office: a 3.6 billion-year-old rock plucked from the moon by astronaut Neil Armstrong. During difficultand frequently tenseconversations with lawmakers, he would often pause and direct their attention to the rock. That rock is 3.6 billion years old, and were all just passing through, he would tell them. Life is over in the blink of an eye, and we cannot afford to waste it on being petty and narrow-minded when we have so much to do.
Clinton recalled this story on Friday night at Northeastern, imparting the words of wisdom to nearly 4,000 people who had convened at Matthews Arena to kick-off the 10th annual Clinton Global Initiative University, including 1,200 students from 90 countries and 250 colleges.
The three-day conference at Northeastern will feature seminars, workshops, and panel discussions aimed at cultivating a network of young leaders who are developing innovative solutions to global challenges in five fields: education, environment and climate change, peace and human rights, poverty alleviation, and public health. The most important things in life, Clinton told the young changemakers, are liberty and love and the opportunity to give something to someone else.
In his opening remarks, Northeastern President Joseph E. Aoun extolled the virtues of the students, saying that they represent the promise of a new generation, the power of a global community, and the hope of our shared dreams. He added: You have a passion to make tomorrow better than today. That passion to serve, to uplift, and to create is perhaps more powerful than you realize.(continued)

I agree, so let's get moving on busting up the Clinton crime family once and for all.
Hmmm. I don't see anything there about earthquake relief in black-majority countries.
I don't get the big deal about the age of a moon rock. The earth is even older than the moon - 4.5 billion years - so why didn't he just have some old rock from the White House grounds on his desk to show we're "just passing through"?
These "young leaders" would do better to concentrate on STEM fields so they can get a real job in the real world, instead of sucking from the public trough for the rest of their lives.
I agree, but now you've got me wondering if Slick Willie sold that moon rock. ;)
Is Clinton “recruiting” interns again??
Sounds like old Clinton trying to be spiritual, uplifting.
I’ve heard spiritual and uplifting, and that ain’t it!!
Most rocks on earth are considerably younger as formations, as I understand it.
The first paragraph showws that Bildo is still as FOS as ever.
I’m sure that rock inspired him as Monica was servicing him under the OVal OFfice desk.
And NOTHING about "How to Use a Do-Good Tax-exempt Foundation as a Front to Get Filthy Rich."
Its the Clintons, serve, uplift, create means Chelsea needs a new pair of shoes. (Designer, of course.)
He kept the moon rock on a table right beside his humidor. The wooden one, not the self-propelled skin version ...
It is all about creating additional fellow travelers to the Billary, Inc. political network.
Everyone who attends this “conference” should be exiled. They are future malignancies on civil society.
Did he abscond with the rock when they left the WH?
