"Call HBO, we'll have to see if Danny Strong is available," jokes Dunham's producing partner Jenni Konner when asked if the memoir high on both her and Dunham's reading list would make a good adaptation.
Lena Dunham and Jenni Konners Lenny Letter celebrated its two-year anniversary earlier this month, a span which has featured stories from Jennifer Lawrence, Gloria Steinem, America Ferrera and model Ashley Graham. But the duo is focused now on digesting the story of one Hillary Clinton in her new book What Happened.
Dunham has to get her surroundings set first. We will for sure read it, Dunham tells The Hollywood Reporter. Its something where I need to get into bed with a hot water bottle and read it; its not like a casual train read for me.
The reason why she craves distraction-free time to consume Clintons campaign tome, which moved more than 300,000 copies in its first week across all platforms, is because Dunham stumped hard for the Democratic nominee. After you work on the campaign for 18 months and invest yourself in the way we did, its something you want to read when you have time to reflect on it.
When queried on whether the book would make a good TV or film adaptation, Dunham jokes, Great question slash suggestion, with Konner adding, Call HBO; well have to see if Danny Strong is available. Strong penned 2012s Game Change about Sarah Palin joining the John McCain 2008 presidential campaign.
As for Dunham, shell next be seen on the small screen in Ryan Murphys American Horror Story playing Valerie Solanas, the woman who tried to assassinate Andy Warhol. American Horror Story is just such an amazing spectacle and such a cool thing to be a part of, Dunham teases. And you get to see me in a very astonishing wig.
I can’t be the only person who read that as adopt...
I think that’s an incredibly good idea.
YES!!! Hollywood needs to greenlight this project, and spend a lot of money on it!
Hillary sold 300,000 copies of that book? Hard to believe.
Fair play to Lena. She’s one of the few people ugly enough to portray Hillary without hours spent in the makeup chair.
Hillary sold 300,000 copies of that book?
Good God, yes! Perfection!
Adapt as What? Do it as a musical?
ya, some “groups” bought it by the pallet load.
The fact that Hollywood gives such an ugly airhead a show and promotes her tells me their agenda, loud and clear.
You can say THAT again.
I think Lena Dunham should take Hillary’s tome and shove it up her very ample arse.
she bought them all, expecting many requests for autographed copies.
LOL
Yeah, with Bill Clinton playing the Meatloaf part on a motorcycle.
That’s one creepy sneer on Clinton’s face as she patronizes the blobfish.
WOW! GAAAG!!!
