If you read the
entire letter, you will find this gem our leftie librarian:
"Another fact that many people are unaware of is that Dr. Seusss illustrations are steeped in racist propaganda, caricatures, and harmful stereotypes. Open one of his books (If I Ran a Zoo or And to Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, for example), and youll see the racist mockery in his art. Grace Hwang Lynchs School Library Journal article, Is the Cat in the Hat Racist? Read Across America Shifts Away from Dr. Seuss and Toward Diverse Books, reports on Katie Ishizukas work analyzing the minstrel characteristics and trope nature of Seusss characters. Scholar Philip Nels new book, Was the Cat in the Hat Black? The Hidden Racism of Childrens Literature, and the Need for Diverse Books, further explores and shines a spotlight on the systemic racism and oppression in education and literature."

"So, my school doesnt have a NEED for these books. And then theres the matter of the books themselves. You may not be aware of this, but Dr. Seuss is a bit of a cliché, a tired and worn ambassador for childrens literature," she wrote.Dr. Seuss was about as Lefty as they come.

My wife is a supervising librarian. They turn down book donations from citizens all the time. No space, not enough employees to process them. People think of libraries as places to drop off unwanted books. Not the case.

Is she speaking for the taxpayers? Perhaps her library needs to be “evaluated” for fair and balanced reading material.

While visiting Relatives back East I had a “discussion” with my S-I-L’s Husband (a retired LIBERAL College Professor) and our Niece's sort of Fiance about Public Education. Needless to say, the Retired Professor is not a Fan of anything BUT "Public" Education and our Niece's (a schoolteacher herself) sort of Fiance thinks having to repay his College Loan is unfair and College should be "free". I got a rise out of both of them when I said Educating Children is the responsibility of their Parents (not the Taxpayers) and if you agreed to borrow money for College you are responsible for repaying the Debt. The "free" College discussion was fun. I said it wasn't a problem if the Property and the Buildings were donated by some rich Liberal and the Professors / support staff (including those who clean the Toilets) work for free as Volunteers. I wasn't the most popular person at the gathering.

Good. There are other libraries more deserving.

I hope Melania takes those books down to Puerto Rico with a big fat check
And gets Trump to autograph them too

Ping to First Lady Melania's List. As a product of the 21st Century American School System, I can tell you, it isn't worth what you are paying for it.

Wow! What an ungrateful slap in the face to our lovely First Lady.
There are many other things they could have done except openly reject her generosity.
If they really didn’t “need” the books, hand out the books for free to children, donate them to a women’s shelter or another school.
Unbelievable.

Maybe so, but still, 60 years later, I remember the fun that it was to learn to read these books. And they had enough of an impact on me that, again 60 years on, I can still pretty much recite the whole of "One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish" ...

I’ve worked in school libraries before. Kids are hard on books.
The librarian could have graciously accepted the gift of the First Lady of the United States to replace old, worn out editions.
School Libraries do it all the time.
