Minnesotas Department of Commerce dealt a blow to Canadian pipeline-maker Enbridge with a report that said the replacement of the Line 3 pipe that runs through the state is unnecessary, as is the pipe itself.
Line 3 brings in crude from Canada to a terminal in Wisconsin and passes through northern Minnesota. Enbridge plans to replace the pipeline, which was built in the 1960s, with a new, extended one. This will cost some US$6.5 billion, but environmentalists and the state government believe it will threaten water resources in the area.

Funny how a state with a very cold climate 1/3 of the year & some fairly long driving distances thinks it can live without oil products.
And then they will complain when there is a problem with it claiming it wasn’t maintained like it should have been. Idiots.
The idiots want another DAPL "protest".
1. If you do not upgrade the pipes, the only way to increase capacity is to increase pressure through the older existing pipes. This can only increase those exact risks you pretend to care about.
2. Your "estimates" saying that demand for gas and fuel is unlikely are WRONG. The incoming illegals, and refugees WILL want and need gas and home heating.
3. Just because existing refiners may be near capacity, does not mean that they cannot increase capacity, nor that more refineries cannot be built, nor that the fuels could not be transported elsewhere further down the line.
There are just over 2 MILLION MILES of petroleum pipelines in the continental US, and our water has been just fine for many decades. How in tarnation does the water supply face a greater risk from newer pipes with better materials and better welding techniques than from pipes that were installed in the 1930s?!?!?
The only real threat to the US water supply was caused in the late ‘70s, when the EPA approved the use of MBTE, an additive to gasoline in order to cut down on lead in the fuel.
It took 30 years to discover that the ground water, particularly in heavily populated areas, had become polluted with this carcinogen, and in 2005, it was discontinued. So the biggest polluter of water in our history was the US government, with more enthusiasm than knowledge, threatening the most precious element on Earth, pure water. Who knows what the death toll has been from this disastrous mistake.
The line is over 50 years old which is a long time. Maybe they ought to just bypass Minnesota and cut them out of all that money.
If it isn’t moved by pipeline it will be transported by rail. Rail is a much riskier mode of transport.
“Maybe they ought to just bypass Minnesota and cut them out of all that money.”
It wouldn’t matter to Minnesota. Virtue signaling is a big part of the culture there, even at the state government.
Then let them heat and cook with dried cow pies. Idiots!

Present it as benefiting the Somali’s and they will pass it immediately.
