Funny how a state with a very cold climate 1/3 of the year & some fairly long driving distances thinks it can live without oil products.

And then they will complain when there is a problem with it claiming it wasn’t maintained like it should have been. Idiots.

The Department of Commerce also believes that the current six-pipeline system that Enbridge runs in Minnesota is enough to accommodate the crude that the state needs over the long term, in light of estimates that show the demand for gasoline and other fuels is unlikely to increase, the department said, adding that local refiners operated near full capacity in any case.

The idiots want another DAPL "protest".

1. If you do not upgrade the pipes, the only way to increase capacity is to increase pressure through the older existing pipes. This can only increase those exact risks you pretend to care about.
2. Your "estimates" saying that demand for gas and fuel is unlikely are WRONG. The incoming illegals, and refugees WILL want and need gas and home heating.
3. Just because existing refiners may be near capacity, does not mean that they cannot increase capacity, nor that more refineries cannot be built, nor that the fuels could not be transported elsewhere further down the line.

but environmentalists and the state government believe it will threaten water resources in the area.

No they don't.

What they want to do is shut-down reliance on fossil fuels.

Never believe what a Leftist has to say. They always lie.

The line is over 50 years old which is a long time. Maybe they ought to just bypass Minnesota and cut them out of all that money.

If it isn’t moved by pipeline it will be transported by rail. Rail is a much riskier mode of transport.
