At least five people died in a historically massive earthquake that struck the southern coast of Mexico early Friday, toppling hotels and houses and prompting tsunami waves and power outages.

The United States Geological Survey said that a magnitude 8.1 quake hit about 73 miles off Tres Picos, Mexico, along Mexico's southern coast.

Its epicenter was 102 miles west of Tapachula in southern Chiapas state and had a depth of about 21 miles. The quake was so powerful, it sent people fleeing from buildings 650 miles away in Mexico City.

Remember the article the other day about the guy warning there would be earthquakes in the wake of the current major coronal ejections? Could this be his proof?

Is it Tim for the Cascadia subduction zone to twang? Read “Ghost Tsunami”

The Chilean tsunami sent a message all the way to Japan.

YouTube has a few simulations up, the power over distance ratio is incredible.

“Could this be his proof?”

No. Coincidence is not proof. I think the earthquakes happened as I was making coffee, so I guess making coffee causes earthquakes.

I lived by the bay in SF area during the Chile earthquake. It was amazing how much water had been drawn out for the tsunamis. People were out walking on rocks that were usually way under water. It is small world.

Ben Davidson at Suspicious0bservers.com has a 75% prediction rate on greater than 7.x earthquakes and >50% on 6.x earthquakes. The Mexico earthquake hit one of his prediction zones this morning.

Spaceweathernews.com also has some great information.

Wow! that thing (and its aftershock swarm) packed some real power! The four seismograph displays (in China [2], South Korea & Japan)-- surrounding the Nork nuke test site at Punggye-ri --went so far offscale that their seismogram plots are totally black!

Seismograph "MAJO" (Matsushiro, Japan) is typical:

If CLFK wanted to hide a test, (which he doesn't because he wants to brag about them) -- now would be the time to pop one. Every seismograph in the Global Seismic Network is "wiped out" like MAJO, above.

Onlya few island stations (like Tuvalu, in the South Pacific -- which have their sensitivity cranked 'way back to suppress constant ocean-wave noise -- have even a recognizable display of that 8.1 monster:

So far, I count twenty-nine (29) aftershocks of magnitude 4.1 or greater following that monster, in the same vicinity.

Those poor folks on the western coast of Mexico probably aren't getting much sleep...
