After President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment to building the southern US border wall last month at his Arizona rally, his threats to shut down the government were taken a s a strong signal that something was going to get done. Yet voices within the White House are apparently saying that the approval for Congressional funding is not contingent on getting the money to actually start building.
In his Phoenix speech, President Trump began: We are building a wall on the southern border, which is absolutely necessary, he said. The obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, believe me, [but] if we have to close down our government, we are building that wall.
The government shutdown would be his refusal to sign off on the Congressional on the continuing resolution. This would in no way be a full shut down, but would mean that a deal would need to be made almost immediately.

God knows why these people could not easily find that info themselves.
The Wall? The wight Dragon collapsed it.
PING
My prediction: Funding for the wall is going to be redirected to Houston hurricane relief. No wall this year.
With congress determined to give out amnesty, it proves just how necessary the wall is. DACA is a huge magnet drawing in more people. Especially if they continue the program, even if only for the people already in it, more are on the way. They have to build the wall.
If no wall, I’m out.
“My prediction: Funding for the wall is going to be redirected to Houston hurricane relief. No wall this year.”
I’d say you’re right. More then a few have floated/insisted on this. It’s BS of course because there was now way Congress was going to fund the wall.
The obstructionist Democrats would like us not to do it, believe me, .......................and believe me, the obstructionist Republicans don’t want to do it either.
Build-da-Wall pronto!
“If no wall, Im out”.
Out of what?
I guess even 5 mile of wall is asking to much?
How about two bricks?
Mexico is nice this time of year.
Some of our elected are used to their palms being “greased” before they will agree to anything. One reason so little is being completed in the swamp. We’ve learned over the years, some of our elected were about like us, financially. However after a few years they’ve become millionaires...how? I’d say greasy palms.
“If no wall, Im out.” Then You were never actually “IN” HEH HEH
That’s true. I think blackmail and threats are also a huge part of the equation.
The USA is as corrupt as any nation in the world and more corrupt than many.
We should all be vey concerned about the safety and well being of DJT.
Yup. The hurricane gave political cover to Wall opposition. Plus the reality is whoever shuts down the Govt loses politically, that is a fact
Pulse we get to recycle all the issues, Obamacare, the wall, maybe even tax cuts, during the mid term elections.
Increase number of GOP seats in Senate, and many Primary challenges by winning Trumpers and we get the stuff done prior to 2020.
That is the calculus I see.Buck up folks
Building the wall is one thing and requires at least some cooperation from the Congress.
But about 1/2 of the illegals in the US now come in via legal Visas from the Far East
regions but never leave when their Visas are expired. How about rounding them up and
putting them on a plane back to Far East?
I remember trump saying that they would shut it down in September if no wall funding. I guess we'll see soon.
