I was being a little facetious they actually did send a fighter squadron but more Mexicans joined the US armed forces than fought for Mexico in WWII !!

I don’t know for sure. But I can tell you that my Leftist friends on Facebook were quite quick in promoting an article from the HuffPo, with the screaming headline ‘TRUMP SAYS NO TO HELP FROM MEXICO’. And the comments were really vile. And of course, no one else was putting this story forth as true news.
