I can’t help you with jobs, but if there is other info you’re interested in (church, housing, etc) PM me.
My sister relocated there in 1999. She just passed away in December. She left with her husband from the Pocono mountains area for the same reasons you mentioned. She made good friends there. She lived out in the rural desert area. Had sheep, chickens, alpacas, on her little 5 acre hobby farm. She loved it there.
How about Colorado? ;) jk Best wishes for you and your wife.
I’ve been to Phoenix, just passing through...................
The prevailing religion in Peru is Roman Catholicism. In the culture and society of Peru, Roman Catholicism plays an important role. Among Peru's population approximately 80% people are Roman Catholic. Apart from Roman Catholicism the other religions found in Peru are Muslim, Hindu, Buddhism, etc.
What'll it take to get them there?
I know you don’t want to hear it, but Austin or San Antonio for work, and live 30 or so miles west not near any of the rivers. It gets dry in a hurry as you move west of San Antonio - Austin - Fort Worth. (According to this site, there are Latin Masses in each of those three cities.) http://www.latinmasstimes.com/Texas
Or if that isn’t dry enough, there’s always Midland (a real boom and bust town).

I’ll take your word for it——I detest summer, even in MA.

Yep, I live in North Phoenix.
I would love to have citrus trees but the roof rats is a problem and I don’t have any as a result.
It feels like fall this week. And the little bastards start school tomorrow. Next stop: Blizzards.
You might want to just move and get there and THEN look for a job.
It could be that potential employers don’t want to pay to fly you there for an interview and then potentially pay for your relocation.
There should be opportunities for your skill set.
Good luck.
I recommend the East Valley as opposed to most of Phoenix proper and the West Valley (both much more Liberal).
That would include Ahwatukee, (an exclusive, more Conservative part of the City of Phoenix),
Chandler, (less Conservative),
Mesa (Conservative, more Catholics than LDS),
Gilbert (Very Conservative & more Catholics than LDS. Lower crime). Gilbert has the highest percentages of married households in the entire nation.
There is a Latin Mass, once a month, at a church in NE Mesa.
I am a 50+ year Mesa resident. I prefer Mesa north of University Dr or even Brown Rd & east of Lindsay Rd to Meridian Rd (the Maricopa/Pinal County line). My personal rankings would be: 1. Mesa 2. Gilbert 3. Awhatukee 4. Chandler. (YMMV)
The Red Mountain freeway (Loop 202, along the northern edge of Mesa) is the best way to travel east, west... towards, and away from Phoenix, it also takes you south towards and around Gilbert/Chandler.
The Superstition freeway (US 60, along the southern edge of Mesa) is very busy. I try to avoid it.
The Pima Freeway (Loop 101, along Mesa’s western edge) goes north and south towards or away from Scottsdale is very busy. I try to avoid it.

Don’t move to Phoenix, move to Payson!
Phoenix is loaded with retired CA screwel teechurs, and they stink severely.

Tucson is Communistic
