I was going to get one, but now I will wait until they put out V2.0. I think you are probably fine to not do the voluntary upgrade, but its no cost and just an inconvenience to send it in.
I am also in California and picked it up under “single shot exemption” before that avenue was closed. Now, If anything were to go wrong, they cannot send me a new fire control group and I lose my gun. That has happened to several owners off other makes of pistols here.
Still great guns. My favorites Amon S&W, Glock, and Kimber.
