I used to fire my min-14 into stock tanks from an elevated position. The shock/concusion from the round would kill/stun lots of fish!!
You didn’t have to hit them to kill them.

That’s what you do shooting fish through the ice, the concussion knocks them out, then you chop them out with a hatchet. Fresh fish out of ice cold water fried in January is pretty special.
You can use a handgun or a shotgun.
