SENATE-We need one term wonders

Posted on 07/31/2017 7:20:31 AM PDT by DIRTYSECRET

Like the rest of you I'm getting tired of these so called conservatives going to Washington and getting squishy. Just find some big names like Kid Rock. Come and go. They don't even have to serve the full 6 years-GOP governors. Do it just for Trump. Let the establishment types do something else. Hank Williams Jr/Tenn? Just the Senate please. That's all we need.

Yeah, that’s the ticket...I can just hear the roll call:

“Senator Cher”. “ Senator Madonna”. “Senator Gaga”.

That would be funny but if you look at not so recent history our guys are taken more serious on election day. Franken stole it.

The Senate is an old man’s seniority club. A freshman Senator is powerless.

If they had only one term, they’d have to start lining their pockets and preparing for their after-congress jobs as soon as they got to DC. I don’t know how you fix a system that’s rotten to the core.

Power corrupts. Once in D.C. people tend to like it and stay.

I am of the opinion that Senators should represent the state legislators but barring a repeal of the 17th amendment, that is not going to happen.

So how about a recall for Senators? I am thinking that if the state legislators, meeting unicameral session, vote for a recall election with 60% or more, then a special election is called and if a majority of the state vote to remove the Senator, then the office is vacant and the senator is no longer able to vote in any capacity.

The senator would be replaced as if the office had been vacated for any other reason.

TERM LIMITS would help correct that!
