Amazon will make tens of thousands of job offers on the spot next week, including some at two Ohio warehouses.
The offers are part of a nationwide, one-day job fair the online retailer is hosting in an effort to fill nearly 40,000 full-time positions and 10,000 part-time jobs, according to Amazon. People offered jobs on the spot will pack or sort boxes and help ship them to customers, the Associated Press reports.
In Ohio, Amazon will be offering jobs at two facilities near Columbus.....

They need one full timer...just for my daughter’s purchases!!
Hmmm, I wonder how he’ll weed out the Trumpsters.
It’s ok because many Amazon purchases get shipped by US Mail and the Governor will like that.
Word has it the place will be thick with plainclothes INS.
this may reflect a very limited horizon, limited sample..
but its curious...
amazon is expanding super=rapidly with huge new warehouses/distribution centers far in excess of what even a fast-growing business should require (?)
google is buying up TONS of commercial real estate (office blocks, downtown merchants’ buildings, even shopping centers) by the millions and millions of sq feet ... usually “secretly” too (with zero or little publicity on some of the acquisitions, regular publicity on others yes but some are super-secret or at least receive no press coverage)
facebook is building another (21?) office buildings all at once....(how much is facebook expanding this year or next, anyway, and into what? how many office buildings does a website require?)
I realize these are three of the more successful outfits nowadays, but they do already have MUCHO real estate to support their operations.... it sure seems like something further, probably different... is happening?????
or? any info most welcome to clarify this .. thanks
They’re hiring like crazy on the Kansas side of the border as well. I’ve seen billboard trucks advertising for workers driving around by my sister’s place in Johnson County.
mixed feelings but YES on one very important aspect of this...
at least its JOBS for Americans (presumably Amazon won’t import hundreds of thousands of foreigners to take Americans’ jobs like does so much of the SillyCon Valley and Disney and many more big corporations across USA)
and another thing,
we need a VARIETY of jobs for Americans... yes, INCLUDING warehouse jobs like these.......................some folks enjoy or do well in all sorts of jobs...including warehousing....as well as manufacturing, engineering, and many more. What’s nice about the recent announcements is that they reflect a fairly good variety of types of jobs
Agreed on variety, especially with Southwest Ohio.
If one lacks a clearance or preference/diversity points, Dayton is almost a no go for anyone not already well established in their career.
I’m not exactly welcoming of Amazon, but it is good to see employers moving in, not out.
