While history points to likely Democratic victories in the upcoming midterm elections, the numbers show a very different story that does not bode well for the left’s chances in peeling back the right’s hold on power next year.
Five recent poll numbers (yes, I know, polls can only mean so much and are many times, wrong, though other times speak to very real trends underway) and recent fundraising statistics reveal a troubling reality for the Democrats.
First off, 43% of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of the economy, according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll put out last Sunday. Jobs continue to be added at healthy rates and for all of Trump’s faults, he knows business and can likely steer the economy with more than enough competence. Employers have added 863,000 jobs during Trump’s first five full months in office and though a recession is possibly to come during his tenure as president, he will still govern a nation emphasizing employment growth via business creation buoyed by deregulation.

1. Forbes’s index of economic indicators hits record high again and is Trump’s REAL approval number.
2. NONE of these press idiots has bothered to do what I have done, look at voter registrations SINCE November. in 12/14 battleground states (all except CO and OR), Republicans have GAINED real/net vs. the Dems. In some cases, it’s big: FL +27k, PA +104k, IA +2k (a lot for IA), AZ +9.2k (what? I thought Az was “going blue”).
These stats alone should bump ALL Trump/GOP numbers up by 1-2 points minimum.

Oh, it most certainly is deliberate. No doubt McConnell is lining up some sacrifical lambs to lose their seats to Dems. In ‘18, once Dems get majority, they will impeach Trump, and get shadow-RINO Pence in the Oval Office...

Two things which could be significant which nobody has mentioned yet:
1. There are about 25 Democrat senators up for re-election in 2018, vs. only about 10 Republicans. Of those 25 Democrats, about 10 are considered vulnerable and have tough re-election fights. The Democrats will have a lot of territory to defend, and likely can’t reelect all 25.
2. Historically, Democrat voter turnout is low in off year elections. So that factor too will make it tough for Democrats to reelect some of those running in 2018.

Trump is holding the GOP over a barrel. He can wreck the party before the 2018 election and he will if they don’t get behind him and start defending him in the media.
