The thugs were egged on by government indifference. Thats all they needed to have a holiday of riot.
They smashed windows. They burned. They attacked opponents and sent bystanders scurrying in fear. And the police stood by. And the authorities that had the power to discipline them quailed in their offices.
The ideas the goons rioted to suppress had to slink away unheard. A victory for the bad guys, if we can play loose with the term.
That happened in Berlin, Germany in 1937, right?
Similar things, yes, but this particular travesty happened at UC Berkeley in 2017.
It did not turn into a book-burning because the Nazis had made that tactic unfashionable, so it was off the table.

The Nazis were left wing butch homo socialist. Oh yeah, and Hitler thought nature and the Universe were on his side. The Nazis hated capitalism. Sounds a lot like the modern day democrats.
It seems to me these “kids” are playing video games. They have been so immersed in VGs and VR that they do not separate the real world from the graphics. They think they are in the street slaying dragons and killing Wehrmacht. They will be very dangerous once they start carrying guns. A certain number of them will be extremely proficient and unconsciously reactive at point and shoot from those games. A decade or so ago there was a rash of Young Teens (both definitions together) holding up store clerks and shooting from the hip, so to speak, and hitting between the eyes with one shot triggered by a single turn or word from the clerk. Some 13 y.o.s and some younger did these things in various places. They learned that P&S unconsciously reflexive skill from the video games.
